It has been reported that the Japanese only takes an average of 8 paid vacations in a year! Japan is one of the countries that takes the least paid vacations throughout the world.

Japanese working on train @.@

Various reasons as to why they aren’t taking more leave are “too much work” and “boss and colleagues have not taken leave either.”

This article is based on a recent survey.

Eight days is considered very little, as to the 20 plus paid vacation days that Singaporean Employees have over here. And no! We are not comparable to Japan still(in terms of Economy). >.< So perhaps we should have lesser paid vacation days? =X

    @ Zen: Wiki Says this

“The U.S.[1] does not require employers to give a set mandatory vacation time. However, in the free-market labor system in the United States, many employers offer paid vacation, typically 10 to 20 days work days, as an incentive to attract employees, and under U.S. federal law, an employee whose employment terminates generally must receive compensation for any accrued but unused vacation time. Additionally, the vast majority of American employers provide for paid national holidays, such as Christmas, New Years, Independence Day, Memorial Day, Labor Day, and Thanksgiving Day.”

I work for Failmart (walmart)… They don’t give any Paid Vacation days the first 365 daysXD (But
After that you get 6 per year~)~
Generally non-Union and labor intensive jobs have the leastXD
And the people that are paid more monies~ are given more time off to go spend their moniesXD

So in other words~ When I go to Katsukon in Winter for 2 days I’m gonna have to pretend to be sick that dayXD
