When I read the Fall 08 Preview list, I had decided that To Aru Majutsu no Index was the 1st new show on my To-Watch list, alongside Sequels such as Gundam 00 S2 and Rosario+Vampire Capu2. When the show did become subbed thanks to Eclipse and m33w, I was really pleased that I was gonna be able to watch it. To help those who are on the fence on whether or not to pick up this show, here are a few words to sum this show up.

Mages + Psychic Users + Action series + Light Comedy = AWESOME!

Yup. The only way to describe this show, is Awesome. To Aru Majutsu no Index started off as a Light Novel in 2004 and is currently still being published in Japan. The anime series is being done by J.C. Staff, the very same people who did Shakugan no Shana and is also doing Toradora!

Before we begin this review/thoughts/and what not you call it these days, a moment for the sponsors of this show, for without them, this show would probably not have made it on TV.

 All right. Now that that’s done with. Let’s get on with the review.

Our lead male in the series is Kamijiro Touma, a Level 0 Psychic User. The show starts off with him entering a Fast Food Diner when he witnesses the scene below.

Wanting to ’save’ the damsel in distress, in that scene, he decides to approach the guy to ask him to back off. However, one thing leads to another, and he ends up getting chased by that gangster and his gang along the streets of the town. When he does lose them however, the damsel in distress, Mikoto Misaka, appears in front of him. The truth is, Misaka is a Level 5 Psychic and the only reason he decided to make the gangsters follow him, was to make sure they don’t end up being badly beaten by Misaka.

Pissed off that she didn’t get to injure anyone, Misaka starts off by attacking Touma. However, he defends that attack with his right hand, and claims that his right hand is able to nullify any Psychic power.

We then flash forward to the next day in Touma’s house. Due to Misaka’s electrical outburst last night, his electricity went off causing his A/C to not work and his fridge contents to spoil. As he decides to put his Futon out on his balcony to air, he finds a nun lying out on his Balcony. After bringing her into his house and giving her some food, the nun introduces herself as Index.

While they talk, Index mentions that there are people chasing her for her knowledge of Magic. Touma who believes nothing of Magic decides to ignore her, head for class and stuff.

When he does get back home however, he finds Index lying half dead on his floor and a mysterious man who proclaims himself as a Mage appeared.

Well. Magic, Psychic Powers(which means different type of abilities, e.g. Lightning summoning, Memory Eraser) is good enough to get me hooked onto this series. I like the OP a whole lot. :D The very 1st part where Index and Touma’s face is flashing back and forth reminds me of Code Geass, the way the action moves in the OP reminds me of Sekirei and Shakugan no Shana. :D. I didn’t really care much for the ED cause I’m not an ED guy. Just skip past the whole thing.

Oh having caught Episode 2 already, I can say that I am most definitely going to continue on with this series. So I should be continuing to blog about this.

Oh btw, in case you don’t know who I am. My name’s M. Although I’ve been registered as a writer quite some time ago, this is my very 1st post, due to time constraints and what not. I should pick up a 2nd series to blog about, but since Gundam 00 is already taken, I’ll probably go for Akane-iro no Somaru Saka as my 2nd anime to blog about.
