Gundam 00: Gundam Meisters is released on the platform PS2 on October 16 2008 by Bandai Namco Games. I played this game yesterday, and my excitement went from 100% to 30% within half an hour. It was boring! Yes I’m not going to post how fun this game was, when it wasn’t fun at all!

[PS2 Review] Gundam 00: Gundam Meisters

The opening was nice, using the song – Ash like Snow for the introduction to the game, but sadly they could have used the gundams in the game to feature their introduction. All they did was to use scenes from the anime. Wait, are we playing the game or watching the anime? -_-

Graphics-wise, it beats Omni vs Zaft II Plus. In the beginning, you get to play as the meisters on their mission. I chose Lockon as my first meister =).

Throne Meisters are in too, so is Graham’s and a couple of others. I remembered fighting Patrick. I think I unlocked his OverFlag – chance to let him be thrased =X.

The controls are retarded. I have never played a game which doesn’t use much of L1/2 buttons. Using Lockon – the enemies just die from a single blast of my power XD. Exia was a little different. Being a close range type, I had to boost Exia towards the enemy for a close range attack to finish them off. Exia has his gun too, but it’s nothing compared to Lockon’s. Had to use many shots just to make them die.

And why do we have a Naruto look-alike gameplay? I remember “spamming” the same button for attacks. And whoa, we have this for Gundam 00 game too. Initially it was quite fun and interesting. After awhile I got really bored of the “special” attacks.

GN Arms is also in the game – but it was a total failure.

I might give the game another go, maybe it was me who didn’t know how to use the controls properly – I do prefer Omni vs Zaft II plus more. If only they did Gundam 00 with a gameplay like OvZIIP(Omni vs Zaft II Plus), I’ll definitely go high!

The trailer looks nice. =/

The VS series are quite a different set of games, and are usually the more popular ones for Gundam games in general. While there’s Gundam vs Gundam that will have Exia (and Virtue for Next) in it, I’m not sure whether Banpresto will make one just for 00.

Judging from the gameplay videos, it’s a hack-and-slash game for sure, with Musou style 00 mode and Naruto style Action Movie. Still, I want to play the game myself to experience it, but I gotta wait until Christmas -_-.

You know what they need to do? Stop making PS2 games. My poor non-backwards compatible PS3 dies a little every time.

    My Review:

    Ok, i’ll be very honest.
I’m so glad i didn’t buy the game.
    It is terrible.
Zaft II plus was the game that set the way for gundam games in my opinion, and i was hoping 00 would be somewhat the same as Zaft plus II but ohhh, i was terribly wrong…
Imagine a Dynasty warriors (or just use the Gundam Musou) mixed in with a lil bit of DBZ Budokai 3 and thats the new 00 game.
Now, I know what you’re thinking, Budokai 3 was very good, right? Right. So it is. But! not when you’re doing all these fantastic moves to kill 50+ Flags that are just surrounding you, who are not even shooting you on normal difficulty (i can only imagine what easy difficulty must be like) and occasionally, you get a lil cutscene that has been animated to the anime itself.

I’ve only played it once, as the first time really put me off, i might give it a go again today and see if anything sparks, but i doubt it highly.
The graphics mentioned in this review, i can’t say i agree…
I believe that they’re in comparison with each other, but with Zaft plus II you might’ve seen some lazyness with the graphics, but trust me, you dont buy a game for the graphics do you? If you do, you might as well go buy some type of interactive picture.

As i’ve mentioned before, the game play is terrible.
The L1, L2, R2 provide no use (air combat only). The R1 is to target the opponent, and the L2 basically switches between.
The L2 and R2 button levitates and puts you down in a non air combat battle, but once you rise up, it basically turns into an air battle :S
As for the main controls, triangle turns on your GN shield, square uses the “primary” weapon. X dashes. and circle turns on your special screen button combo atatck.
Now, in comparison to Zaft Plus II, you have so many different types of attack buttons to press, your main, your secondary, and if you’re lucky you got a third to whip out. Even the shoulder buttons provided a special attack of some sort.

You might’ve noticed when i put primary into inverted commas was because in double 00, that is the ONLY primary weapon you have, you can hold square and X to do a different charge up attack, but it is meaningless…
An example, with Lockon, you have a huge fat ass sniper, and you know he has those lil sexy hand guns? he cannot, at your own will use the hand guns until you reach level 3 of these weird button combo pressing attacks. So the higer level you attain in doing those button combo screen attacks, the better. But thats just effort as the bar only fills up when you kill flags and what not, but lockon’s sniper is as slow as a snail. and you just get heavly surrounded by the time you want to use your special you’re almost dead.

As for the sound, You’d expect more quotes used from the anime to benefit the game, but oh no.
They use repeated quotes and lines over and over it becomes a song.

And i’ll wrap it up with one last comparison.
As for the PSP version of Rengou VS Zaft, you could do a lil mission as a noob pilot and work your way up to getting proper mobile suits. Which i’m sure is a massive bonus for any mecha fans to work your way up the ranks and earn your selected mobile suit.
But in double 00, there is no such thing. You can only play story mode with one oft he 4 characters, and the other mode of playing is Time attack which is horribly time consuming.
I recently saw an image of like a 00 gundam tree, showing the lowest of the low, making its way up to the best of the best.
    The link is here:

Now if the game featured something like this, i would be more than willing to eat all of my words back in slating this game.
Overall, i would give this game a 4-5/10
It is honestly that bad, and i’m a gundam fan, i’m not someone who would be willing to sit here for a while and slate a game just because i disliked it lol.
    Hopefully my review helped you.
    Thanks for reading,
