A Little Late but..: AFA08 Day 1 at Suntec Convention Hall
Took me awhile to post this up. I was very tired after the events that I have planned for myself. Started work on Monday(24th November) and well, didn’t really have the time to post this post up because I was busy packing my room and later on, catching up on my backlogged anime shows before I start working.. =3
AFA08, was a failure in my point of view.
I believed many other bloggers feel the same way. We were kinda disappointed because there were figurines for sale, but they were more of the recent/older figurine releases.
I went there bright and early, to join in the queue and also, to snatch those Limited Edition Gundams they have for sale XD. The tickets weren’t impressive, not like the VIP Passes :(. Well I wasn’t expecting a nice ticket design since I was only paying 8 bucks. LOL.
They had brochures of the event, people were passing it around. Unfortunately, I felt that they should have given us a copy of the brochure when we purchased our tickets. This way, everyone entering would definitely get a copy! M didn’t even get a copy.. He was like asking me where I got mine from when I met him (with the brochure in my hands) LOL.
Gundam Exia. Now where are the other Gundams?
Do you spot the 1/60 Trans Arm Gundam Exia (Limited Edition?) This was taken when I first entered.. And I heard that 1 hour later or so, they were sold out. LOL.
Takashimaya Booth
Do want all the figurines inside!
I heard from M that there were showcases of the 0 Riser, and the 1/100 00 Gundam with the Special O Riser. Sadly, I missed it because my friend dragged me to the stupid Toradora! showcase, not that Toradora is stupid, but well I wouldn’t want to go there at all, waste of my time since TV doesn’t have proper quality of the anime series!
And well, the anime showcase was more for people who have not watched XXX anime or so…
Went to KKnM booth too. The booth had the longest line ever! They also had the orderly queueing up which was fair, since no one would cut the queue just to snatch merchandises. I bought some stuff, because I don’t know what was available, just grabbed whatever I saw was on sale. Lol.
KKnM Booth
OMG POWER RANGERS!!!
DVDs not worth buying. GET R1 or R2 PLEASE.
She’s hot, yes the spotlight is all on her >_>
And the total damage incurred that day.. Please add another 75 bucks because I don’t think they gave me a receipt when I bought the Macross Mecha Kit XD. Over 200 bucks! Wow O_O.
I left after lunch. Didn’t go to Day 2 because I found Day 1 boring. Many told me Day 2 was more happening, but the organizers should have done more “happening” stuff on Day 1 to attract more people back to Day 2. Yes May’n would be performing but, sorry I am a Nana fan XDXD.
That’s some good stuff!!!!!!
I want some of your loot!!!!!!!
Wish conventions here can be like conventions there…so amazing…
It’s sort of like how Comiket is like minus the concert and the amount of people…

IMHO, you didn’t stick there long enough or explored thoroughly enough.
The brochure could have been grabbed from the Schedule Board near the stage, and the first day was actually more of Gundam than anything. :/
Second day was much better than the first in terms of cosplayers and events too. May’N concert was awesome.(Would also have preferred Mizuki Nana more though. XDDD)
And I was annoyed with Hatsune being in the middle of of the case and blocking my view of Figma Nanoha and Figma Fate LOL.

@ Rin: Well would have love it if there were some figurines, like exclusives to hoot! T_T
@ V: Yar I saw the brochure there too, but wouldn’t that be too late? People should get the floorplan before entering so that they will know where they are going! Lmao, I am not complaining since I did get the brochure b4 the doors opened, but just kinda disappointed because it could have been better!!

Oh you don’t like it so much? Then I suppose you won’t like the annual Anime/comic festival in Hong Kong held every summer as it’s mainly small anime merchandises, manga, and gunpla + gunpla display. Figurines don’t seem to be very popular with us, especially when there are those figures with a lot of skins exposing to the little ones (it’s more for general attendence not just hardcore otakus), and the fact that they are relatively expensive so we get hardly any displayed there; there’s only a Kotobukiya stand this year and there isn’t a huge variety, and with people complaining how expensive they are for such sizes. Well, at least from the outsiders’ point of view :\
But wow, there’s some nice loot there. Limited clear colour 1/144 HG Exia, and limited clear colour 1/100 Trans-Am Exia, as well as the newly-released 00 Gundam and VF-25F (though I haven’t watch any of the Macross series yet)! You’ve stil got yourself some great stuff!
