Remember the phrase never to judge a book by its cover? Well apparently, a husband and his wife, two respectable teachers at schools have been busted for filming in the toilet of the public gymnasium in Yokohama’s Hodogaya Ward. The incident took place on June 28 when a woman using the restroom noticed a black cable coming out of a roll of toilet paper. She immediately knew that someone was filming her.

When she left her cubicle to report what she found, the woman jumped out to stop her. They struggled and soon, a man came to grab the camera from the woman’s hands and he fleed. The man was ultimately caught by several men who heard the cries for help.

The couple was arrested at the scene on suspicion of disturbing public peace. The male suspect was identified as Noriyoshi Sano, 44, an art teacher at Caritas Elementary School, and the female suspect as his wife Naoko, 42. Caritas is a prestigious Catholic school that offers education from kindergarten through junior college and is popular among the wealthy.

The arrest of the couple shocked many people around them. Who knew that such respectable teachers will commit such acts.

Copious evidence has been confiscated from the couple’s home, according to police investigators. At least 300 60-minute digital videotapes – enough to fill four boxes – have been seized, most of which are suspected to be secretly filmed images. The arrested couple stated that the motivation was their personal entertainment. But investigators are skeptical, and are currently looking into the husband’s bank account for transactions that would indicate the filming was for sale online.

Well I can’t imagine a wife supporting the hobby of secret filming women when she’s a woman herself O_O.

…I always hate stories like this. Just makes me more paranoid when going to public bathrooms (although I do admit, there’s not much to see down there… *ahem*)
