Figurines Getting Delayed: Should We Be Happy?

As we move nearer to the Fall season (which is October) – It dawned on me. 2009 is coming to an end, soon! Alas, I noticed that lots of figurines updates have been posted: Delays and delays!

Just last week I heard news of Fate T.Harlaown getting delayed. Upon checking the Alter’s Website, I found out it was true! Truth was, I don’t know whether I should feel happy that she’s getting delayed (My wallet will feel better this month), but the month of October will be a killer XD.

Feito

Besides Feito, I’m sure everyone will remember Saber Lily by GSC? LOL.

Saber Lily

The figurine has been delayed to September because the PVC Quality not meet up to expectations. The original month which they had scheduled her to be out was June 2009. But she got delayed to August because of “Production Problem” and now, she’s delayed to September due to PVC Quality. Well, hopefully the Saber fanboys are not raging at the moment.

BRS

Black Rock Shooter has also been delayed to a October 2009 release, the same month as Feito -_-. Thankfully I didn’t order her as I’m not into Miku o.o. I know my friend is going to die when October comes because his list of preorders is truely magnificient (thanks to all the delays)^_^”

Though my list of “Preordered Figurines” aren’t a lot, I plan my finances carefully as I do purchase CDs regularly. You could say my CDs purchases takes up most of my expenditure? The month of October will be a killer for me.. I have no idea how I am going to survive..><

My upcoming figurines are as follows:

  • 1/7 Fate T.Harlaown Sonic Form
  • 1/7 Nanoha
  • Nenoroid Asakura Yume

I have yet to preorder my Mio Nendoroid too -_-. And if you look at my list, they are all scheduled for release in OCTOBER!! OMG >_<.

Well the question now I have to you is: Do you feel happy when the figurines are getting delayed? Happy as in your wallet will feel thicker with all the spare notes, and you in turn can save longer for the figurines before they’re released. Of course, I always lose the power to resist and I end up buying things even before I can save the money. LOL.

Looks like we are on the same boat. xD

It’s a good thing I didn’t preorder any of them. My wallet is safe. lol

The delays, while predictable, are disappointing for me. I rarely spend money on figures, so wallet exploding is not an issue for me. Have been anticipating Fate to arrive anytime in September so I can get it in person before I leave Hong Kong on 31st September. But nope it looks like that I have to leave it to a member of my family to retrieve it as I won’t be able to see until I come back to Hong Kong in December. Great. Just great.

@ Optic: You did preorder NANOHA. Hopefully she gets delayed to save my dying wallet in October! Hehe. I can wish only right?>_>

@ Q: Lol I can somehow feel your rage as I’m replying to your comment now. I understand how you feel as many a times I was looking forward to some figurines only to have them delayed and screwing with my “financial planning” – I end up spending my money on other stuff for that month ._.

@Q: Why not just have her shipped to England? I have stuff shipped to my school all the time.

The point for me to order Fate in a local store is that ***I can save lots of money from those horrible shipping fee*** ! Not sure how heavy the package is but I can definitely buy at least 1 1/144 Gundam model with that shipping fee already! That’s the WHOLE POINT of me buying all my stuff from local stores in Hong Kong rather than pre-ordering online!

And I also tend to have a bad luck of things breaking when they are brought to the UK – some bad omen that I have pocessed perhaps.

@ Q: I understand how you feel dude. The local store might take like a few weeks just to get her over after she’s released officially in Japan. Took me several weeks before I got my 1/7 Teana Lanster by Alter from the local shop. >_>. Well think about it that you can see her by the end of the year.. If she’s released in End October, the shop should probably get her in November, and December ain’t that far… away ;)

    @ Zenical:
Few weeks?! No the shops CAN get the goods released ON THE SAME DAY as Japan. That’s why I got figma Shana so quickly on the official release date (20th December) and reviewed her on Christmas, and that’s why I got Revoltech Airi within the week she got released (and she’s nearly sold out within days!), and I got Revoltech Reycal today (15th August, while it’s released on 13th, 2 days earlier than officially announced release date which is the same for Japan). That’s the good thing about living in Hong Kong as goods come really quickly and they don’t suffer import taxes, and that’s why things come at competitive prices (i.e. same or lower than retail prices usually).

I am not so sure about figures in general, but they definitely come within 2 weeks afaik, and there are talks on forums and shops already about how Alter’s Fate will get skyrocketed in price soon after release, so it’s not so funny for me. Would so like to see it in person but guess I have to leave it in December, as long as someone gets it back safely so I know it’s there back home.

I know I have sounded rather unlike myself in the blog, but I really do mean what I’ve said there. Hongkongers 1) can be ruthless on what they want, yet 2) they can be very picky when it comes to money as they want to save as much as possible. Not vigilant enough, and you’re left with nothing or with the expensive ones only. And this is usually the case for figure-related stuff in general.

    Ack, I’ve talked too much. Guess it’s about letting the frustration out like so, but I have other things to keep me occupied so I guess I can get distracted from Fate’s delay at the moment. Gunpla backlog, trip photos backlog, game backlog, as well as anime backlog. I might be outdoing myself anyway -_-;;

@ Q: WOW XD. I can feel your anger already. haha. Sorry man, I was under the impression that it would take a few days or weeks before the figurine would come. I got my Figma Signum earlier than the release date because the supplier decided to ship out the stock to my local shop beforehand. Like what I see from my local shop, they have the habit of backlogging all the figurines until it’s “time” to send the darlings over. So ultimately, I think it’s the local shop here who “delays” the figurines when actually they could have given us the feeling of having the figurine when “It’s Officially Out in Japan Today”.

Okay.. time to let the rage die down, go enjoy your anime. Put Feito somewhere in your brain, and think of her as December comes!

Alright then. Time to catch up on Toradora then get Wolf & Spice dl’ed (i.e. Spicy Wolf as Optic calls it).

In general, there are a lot of figures getting delayed this year, and a lot of them are high antipating and good. I wonder what the problem is exactly, but it’s likely that the factories are a major factor behind all that. Can’t blame them too much as they are the ones who make them.

lawl. Hongkong always gets things faster than Singapore due to their location. I remembered I bought a Megami Deluxe there which only appeared in Kino about 3 weeks later….

WOAH!!! Q on fire. I can definitely feel the rage. LOL
I hate to see what will happen if Fate came in damaged. Delayed + Damaged = Fury Q. @_@

@Q: Point taken. No stores do pre-order around here (well, my anime club senior advisor had a bad experience with the one near out school, he waited for over 6 months and gave up) and everything’s price is super jacked up to the point that it’s better to buy online.

@ Q: Spicy Wolf and Toradora!! ;) Well I learn to just forget about those figurine delays and take it as a blessing in disguise >_< @ Blowfish: Are those the only figurines for you so far? Or are there more :D

@ Optic: Lol. I saw him watching Toradora last night =P

@ GNdynames: I guess I must be very lucky to be able to purchase the figurines locally at shops ><

I am happy and annoyed at the same time because I may end up canceling one of them because I couldn’t afford all of them on the same month *Looking at my October released*.

@ Blowfish: LOL. I forgot the fact that you’re a working adult XD. I’m a student still so I have to control my expenses still. Well, not buying too much figurines as I foresee one day that I’ll lose my interest in them =/ Somehow…~~

@ Saku: Lol, yeah I heard you complaining to me about them XD. Haha. Well hopefully the October figs will be delayed to November or something >_>

Wow… that’s a good deal of delays. I would say it’s a good thing for now, it means you can save up for October and still be okay when they do come out. I know the pain of “It’s been moved back… but next month will kill me.”
