YUI’s next single will be out this October 2009. Sweet! I subscribe to feed updates of my various artists, but I end up being too lazy to even log into my feed reader just to check. >< Oops. Well, this time I was browsing CDJapan, and I saw the new single title. I immediately clicked the link and found myself “adding to cart” to preorder my copy =3.

The two songs from this single will be used for the Live-action movie, Kaiji. “It’s all too much” will be the theme song, while “Never say die” will be used in the film.

After graduating from high school in 1996 in Japan, Itō Kaiji moves to Tokyo to get a job, but he fails to find steady employment because of his eccentric disposition and because the country is mired in its first recession since World War II. Depressed, he festers in his apartment, biding the time with cheap pranks, gambles, liquor and cigarettes. Kaiji is always thinking about money and his perpetual poverty frequently brings him to tears.

Kaiji’s unrelenting misery continues for two years until he is paid an unexpected visit from a man named Endō, who wants to collect an outstanding debt owed to him in Kaiji’s name. Endō gives Kaiji two options – either spend ten years to repay this outstanding debt, or board the gambling ship Espoir (“hope” in French) for one night to clear the debt. Using a con, Endō pressures Kaiji into accepting the deal, believing he will never come back from the voyage.

Limited Edition of the single is retailing at a price of 1,575 yen and the Regular Edition is retailing at a price of 1,223 yen. Purchase at CDJapan now! The Limited Edition comes with a bonus DVD which will contain the PV of one of the songs ><. This single is a Double A-side single, so I have no idea which PV will be out on the DVD. LOL. Well, regardless, I already ordered mine 2 weeks ago! ^_^

The Live Action movie will debut in Japan on 10 October 2009. Wonder whether I’ll get to watch the movie in Singapore?
