Tokyo Magnitude has Left Me in Despair!

Since this series hasn’t gotten too much attention this season I thought I would give my impressions on it before fall season starts.

The series focuses on a bratty middle school girl who hates everyone and her cute innocent little brother. She if forced to be his guardian while he goes to a robot convention. Out of no where there is a huge earthquake that shatters glass and send people into a panic. The girl runs back into the burning toppling building to save her brother, but if not for an adult they probably would have all died. The three of them decide to stick together and make the trip home; during their journey their are numerous after quakes and they are surrounded by death and destruction. They just want to make it home alive and pray their family and loved ones are also safe.

Despite the previews, this series if far from action orientated. It focuses more on how the bratty girl grows to trust people and value her family and those around her.  I know some people gave this series up early because they became bored with it *cough ZEN, but the last few episodes have had much higher levels of drama that have left me in tears. In fact I’m writing this post because episode Nine has left me in despair! Dx What they have done is so shocking that it took me two episodes to even realize what awful thing happened. There definitely won’t be a happy ending now. Spoilers would be evil, but I’ll give a hint~ It left me with the same feeling episode 32 of Blood+ did. Except with less rape and vampires.

This isn’t a perfect series, but its definitely within the top 5 anime of this season. (Spice and wolf II,  Canaan, Bakemonogatari, Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, Hetalia Axis Powers 2). Although I’m sure there are people that would disagree with me xD

OMG Bluey. I didn’t even realize what happened until seeing episode 9. I thought it was getting really boring until I noticed the bag Mari was carrying towards the end of episode 9 and then I started going back to episode 8 and 9 and noticing all the little details I had missed cuz I thought this anime was going to be mediocre. NOW I SEE. Such despair and yet such brilliance…

    @ Zen: Oh really xD
    DON”T DROP IT !!!

@Kana: Yeah, there are some boring parts to this anime.
But 8 through 9 was very unexpected. I feel kind of bad though… because *SOMEONE* spoiled it for me xD
But I didn’t notice myself till the end of episode 9… The only suspicious thing I caught onto was how Mari was never talking to “that person.”
And frequently “That person” just wasn’t there when he should have been xD
If I had experienced that though… I’d probably be loosing my mind too.

This show messed with our heads for real. Looking forward to the last two episodes, planning to post about the anime when it’s all said and done. It made it on my top 5 this season as well.

Omg… I don’t think a last episode has ever made me cry so much.
The anime itself isn’t amazing, but the ending was good and it made me cry lots Y____Y
