PS3 Gets 3D in 2010
3D will be taking over your TV in 2010. Imagine playing your PS3 games and being able to view the graphics.. in 3D. Well a joy for some, but definitely not for me.

This kind of 3D doesn’t need a “special” TV (catch: you will need a 200hz+ set); rather, you just need a set of stereoscopic glasses, the likes of which you’ve probably already used once or twice at the movies in recent years. Or even at a games show, to play some WipeOut.
The update will come via a firmware update sometime next year, and will work for, apparently, “all” existing games. No idea how the stereoscopic glasses will be made available to us. I sense that we need to purchase the glasses if we want our games to be in 3D.
As I mentioned just now, it’s bad for me because I wear glasses – Gyuuu the extra glasses are going to make me so uncomfortable when I playing my game :(.
Still, I’m looking forward to the new changes next year!

LBP in 3D. I can imagine it already.

Regarding the 3d glasses thing, I have a feeling it’ll be the same as dvds of movies that are in 3d: you get x pairs of cheap cardboard ones with the game (because from the video on Engadget you really can’t play properly without wearing the glasses. Sony will probably sell “high quality” glasses separately for a higher price.

nevermind, didn’t take note of the “firmware upgrade” part orz.

Hmm…. i’m not sure about this. I suppose it would be a nice thing to add to the games, but i don’t mind having them like they are now. Although Prince of Persia and Valkyria Chronicles in 3-d would be most entertaining….

I’m actually somewhat looking forward to this.
At NIVIDIA’s booth at Blizzcon this year, they had similar 3D setups for WoW on PCs. I tried it for a bit and I must say that it was pretty impressive. The GUI looked like it was still flat on the screen, but the environment extended back into the screen with everything in full 3D.

M, just borrow the game from Zen. She hasn’t even started and I doubt she will notice if she have the game or not. lol
