There are no figurines for this epic work of animation. Can you imagine a Haydee figurine, the Count himself or perhaps Pepo?

The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my favorite novels. So I was naturally inclined to watch Gankutsuou when it aired. However, I was put off by the animation style and stopped watching it. Quite some time later, I decided to try watching it again and it ended up being one of my all time favorite anime series.

For anyone put off by the artwork, watch it anyways. I now think the art style is amazing and gives it uniqueness. Plus there’s the epic plot and futuristic dueling. Revenge is always an interesting topic.

But something is telling me no LOL.

@ Rev: I didn’t say it has low scores~ It has high scores everywhere xD
But not as many people have seen it.
For instance~ Death note appeals to the same audience this series would~
But Gankutsuou only have 1/10 the viewers according to MAL xD
It kind of reminds me of Okami… Everyone Loves Okami~ but the sales aren’t there.

I think it’s not overlooked at all.. look at the review in animenewsnetwork, they give this straight A’s, with flying colors

This is my most favorite Gonzo’s ever, next to Last Exile.
