King of Thorn is an apocalyptic movie being made by sunrise and several big name producers was originally supposed to be released in 2010 in Japan. A recent announcement claims that this movie is now going to premier in at a Spanish Film Festival this October.

King of Thorn has been officially selected for the Anima’t section of
42nd SITGES International Film Festival of Catalonia (Oct.1st-12th)!!

SITGES screens the world premier of film.

Here is a brief summary and trailer.

The Japanese film studio Kadokawa Pictures lists a film adaptation of Yuji Iwahara’s King of Thorn science-fiction action manga for a 2010 release in Japan. The story follows Kasumi, a girl who was infected by a pandemic virus along with her twin sister Shizuku. Kasumi — but not Shizuku — was chosen to be among 159 other people who were placed into cryogenic suspension until a cure is found. The 160 wake up in the dark future populated by monsters, and Shizuku must survive while she searches for clues on what happened to the world and her sister.

I generally am not moved to watch one shot movies, but both the trailer and plot summary have intrigued me.

Urg, that summary on ANN still isn’t fixed? “…and Shizuku must survive while she searches for clues…” No! It’s Kasumi, not her sister!
