Kampfer seems like a modern day less origenal Ranma 1/2. The story starts off with a blue haired boy who wakes up to realize he has boobs and he’s missing certain… vital man parts o___o A talking stuffed animal with its guts ripped out explains he is now a Kampfer warrior, and because all Kampfer must be women the transformation is necisarry. The boy is knocked out and wakes up in his male form and thinks it was all a bad dream. On his way to school he is attacked by a crazy chick that likes to curse and has a gun, and he transforms back into a woman and starts firing fire balls out of his… errr… her hands.

What I saw:

1. Ecchi
2. Many Potential love triangles and confusion… For Instance the girl he has a crush on turns lesbian for his girl side.
3. The Shy librarian has her mind in the gutter
4. The talking stuffed animals creep me out o___o
5. They Skip the scene where he’s trying to figure out how to go to the bathroom as a girl
6. There’s only actually ONE trap; the rest are definitly girls (I think o.o)
7. Neither the opening or ending were particularly amazing, but the ending showed all the Kampfer’s and their transformation.

Overall its a mediocre series, but ok to pass the time.

Or rather I didn’t recognize any of them~ Because I only generally recognize male voices =P

I kind of enjoyed the episode. Yeah, the voicing was a bit off and the “Entrails” plushies are annoying. I like the character of Akane… one moment a quiet closet pervert, the next a “shoot first ask questions later” fire ball.

Watching this made me wonder how many other transformation anime series there are…. One came to mind

Kashimashi (Girl meets Girl) – Boy is hit by a crashing spaceship. The aliens re-build his body only now, he is a girl.

@ loneotaku: and the seiyuu cast is almost the same, with Yukarin and Hocchan in it. I don’t think Kana Ueda is in it though. Lol.

Kampfer is definitely… bizarre. Points for trying to do something a little different, I guess.

Akane’s dual personalities amuse me a bit, though.

Eh, not going to say much but if you head over to my site you can see what I said about the first episode (it took me like 2 days to type it up because I started typing it at late night, then went to bed, then wrote some more, then went to work, then finished it when I came back from work).

Anyways, the first episode wasn’t that bad although I had to pause it every so after to slap someone in IRC for telling me to watch it so stupid me I watched it right before I went to bed…

Over all, if you look past the trap that’s in there, it’s not toooo bad…

Loving Kämpfer so far, second episode was amazing too. Series has good animation and quite a bit of entertaining action but the best part is no doubt the gender-bending comedy. From Natsuru’s confusion about his female form to the yuri moments with Sakura, the budding love triangles with male Natsuru, female Natsuru and Sakura, or even with Natsuru, Sakura and Akane, simply hilarious stuff.

Sure the series is nothing deep or intellectual but that’s not what it’s meant to be, this is an all out ecchi joke, action and humor series meant to simply entertain. Nothing wrong with that.

It’s also the seiyuu that make the series. Marina Inoue perfectly switches from male voice like her rendition of Wataru from “Hayate No Gotoku!” to a girly voice like Kana’s in “Minami-ke”. Yui Horie is doing an even better job as Akane, her seamless switching from shy yet perverted bookworm to a foul mouthed brat is amazing.
