Kobato Impressions
Kobato, the newest animated series by Clamp is some sort a shojo/fantasy type story focused on a cute and naive young lady named Kobato that appears to be from another world. Her and her serious business talking blue plushie dog have come to the human world because she has a wish; somewhere she wants to go.
The dog is her proctor; she is undergoing a test in the human world to see if she has human common sense. If she passes the test she will be given a vial that collects broken hearts which will grant her wish. If she fails… well then she probably just fails. She proceeds to walk around the town and demonstrate that she probably has cotton candy for brains. The objective of the series seems to be that she will just go around meeting and helping people. It is a cute and laid back series; not much of a plot yet, but I will watch a few more episodes to see how it goes.
- Slow and Mellow
- Cute
- CLAMP
- Talking Stuffed Dog (that does not have entrails hanging out)
1/2 the episode is just pictures of her and cherry blossoms
Her kick ass plushie can breath fire =D
I liked her random reactions xD
Her Talking plushie! And Since Zen criticized me for forgetting seiyuu in my last post on anime impressions~ I figured I’d mention that he has the same voice as Kurogane from Tsubasa Chronicles =D~ (Only Male Seiyuu catch my attention)
What happens when she tries to feed the crows o.o
Insert Pretty Clamp boy #1
I want Choco hot pot =D
She trying to cheer a baby up… I make those kind of faces for my baby brother too xD
She sings a song instead which makes the baby stop crying
Her reaction to failing her “human” test, but in the end the dog lets her slide because she helped an old lady with the crying baby. She receives the vial, and plans to set out healing people’s broken hearts.
Just a reminder to go check our Fall anime Line-up if you’re still looking for series to watch this season ^.^

I too thought this was a “cutesy” series. I liked the analogy “cotton candy for brains”. I will probably watch a few more episodes just to see how it goes. Its a nice light series amongst some darker series (Book of Bantorra comes to mind).

^ Knowing Clamp there is surely darkness somewhere… maybe if she doesn’t succeed a demon will eat her soul… or maybe she has a sickly twin sister she needs to rescue.
Cuteness, Dark Drama, and Yaoi are Clamp’s three strong points lol.

I’m still debating whether Kobato is a cute CLAMP heroine or just another annoying moe-blob.
I love that Tetsu Inada is voicing the fire-breathing dog plushie, though.

I like the show but Koboto is almost too cutesy. The lack of plot is not really a problem for me.
