@ Donyea: Agreed. I don’t have an xbox, but I do have a PS3, I kinda feel the pain of buying new & expensive games, but it’s a cycle I got myself into – The gaming cycle! LOL

@ atmchino: I actually get the point why some of us are upset over Microsoft’s actions. Basically, in the first place, the pirates shouldn’t even be going online that will enable them to be caught. While I am unsure how Xbox Live works, but from my experience with the PS3 Network, I understand that you have to go online for the stuff, etc, so going online when clearly you have modded your console, is what the pirates deserve :3.

They’re telling Microsoft: Hey I’m a pirate, and I can go online! Ha ha ha!

it’s not purely the banning from xbox live. they try to disable your own harddrive. it’s like having a person illegally downloading from microsoft, and microsoft cutting your electricity power. the ability of microsoft to deal out punishment isn’t and shouldn’t be equivalent to lawful compensation/court sentencing. but as long as sony doesn’t follow the same path, even though i think their products aren’t top-quality either, i will be supporting them in their consoles.

@atmchino: I see your point, but ultimately you cannot blame microsoft for banning the consumers that are pirating and getting away with illegal use of their products/software. It’s as simple as that…no pirate, no ban.

@ atmchino: Sony has attempted to stop piracy by improving their consoles and stuff, Microsoft on the other hand is not helping at all. They ban their users, and ultimately, who wins? Microsoft would have lost most of their customers due to this banning issue. At least Sony did not ban us, they merely improved the technology of each gadget (like PSPgo), preventing us from pirating their goods.

Well I don’t own a Xbox, so my view can only go this far XD.

this is an unfortunate reality that is similar to “i was robbing the lady in her home in New York, but then she took out a gun and tried to kill me”

because legally, you aren’t allowed to kill people if they’re not trying to kill you.

i would normally side with microsoft on this, except microsoft became what it is by illegal monopolistic practices and, as many others do, puts out crappy stuff that rips off consumers. both are lawbreaking whiners.

though i strongly feel their terms of use is legally unfair and too far reaching. on that basis alone, a class action lawsuit could be won, though it’s difficult to say.

Whether it was for profits or for less pirate users, they didn’t do anything wrong. You’re doing somethign ILLEGAL and should be banned. Even if it was for ‘more money’ reasons, who’s fault is that? THE PEOPLE WHO PIRATE. You guys did this, stop bitching about the fact that they made money off your stupid asses because YOU’RE too cheap to game the LEGAL way.
