rebuilding midgar in hd itself would take as much as a newer game because midgar had 3 full cities 3 reactors and multiple dungeons
then kalm town would have to be rebuilt and change during gameplay to match the events as they take place in the town city
junon is actually 2 different cities plus the underwater reactor most other cities had at least one side quest area plus the gold saucer would equal two cities
plus FF7 had twice as many interactive important characters as ny new game and with countless side quest and 3 times as many summons
i wouldnt hold my breath for a remake because of the content from first would have to be changed to make anything even closely related to the same game without changing it so much that it would absolutly suck
]]>in reality, i dont think it’ll be worth remaking ff7. first of all, they’re gonna receive criticism no matter how they make it. follow the design exactly to the old ff7, it’ll have the same flaws and will be a 3 year waste of time that’ll try to overshadow the original ff7. Change it a bit and people will complain they’re ruining it, although that’s the smarter option since it’ll serve ff7 fans with something more and it’ll be made for the mechanics/graphics capability of the game. ff7 on the ps1/pc was designed with the hardware available for the time. you don’t make old games on new consoles unless you make use of the console.
if at all, it should be a minor project with graphics coming last. we don’t want another mess up like what happened with ff13 – coming out on ps2 and designed for ps2, then ending up upgrading to ps3.
