Looks like the rumors were true after all, Sony is going to offer Premium Playstatation Plus Subscriptions for Playstation Network. Currently PS3 owners find themselves using the PSN for various uses like messaging a fellow friend, or playing in a multiplayer game. The premium subscription is said to be an enhancement – additional content, early demo access and more.

Said to cost $49.99. Subscribers may also choose a $17.99-per-3 months pricing plan. PlayStation Plus subscribers also would get “hundreds of dollars” in free content and discounts on certain items within the PlayStation Store.

The first three months of the service will be available for free for a limited time to subscribers, Tretton said.

Standard PSN features which are free now, will continue being free. Guess it’s a sign of relief that we don’t have to pay in order to play a multiplayer game with you comrade ^^.

EDIT: Playstation Plus will launch this June 29 2010.
