[E3 2010] Ghost Recon: Future Soldier – Gameplay Video
As you all know, E3 is currently underway. Many video game enthusiasts are probably storming the show floor while I am sitting in front of my computer watching the live streams >.<. Today I have managed to make it for the second half of Ubisoft’s press conference and the first thing I saw was Ghost Recon: Future Soldier.

The teaser trailer that Ubisoft has put out some time ago got me quite interested in the game although it is more like a trailer for a live-action movie. Now with the E3 gameplay demo, everybody gets to see how it looks like in-game and I have to say, I am totally on board.
I am aware that it looks very much like a typical cover-based third person shooter. Also, the first thing that I thought of when I saw the optical camouflage was “third-person Crysis“. However I am still really excited about the game and it is definitely at the top of my list.
So here are some of the things that I noticed from the gameplay demo:
- Optical camouflage does not seem to have any form of countdown or cool down. [4:03]
- Cross-com suppose to “give you added situational awareness”, but I can’t make anything from it. [4:19]
- Peeking out of cover will automatically switch you to first person view. [4:29], [8:07], [8:25], [8:56],
- Ability to switch to first person view at any time. [5:25], [7:12]
- Instant stealth kill moves. Wonder if it will be in the multiplayer as well. [5:37], [6:36]
- Signs of scripted events. [6:05], [6:56]
- Enemy AI can’t feel a thing [6:32]
- Cooperative gameplay. [7:32]
- Destructive environment. [8:53], [9:25]
- Moving from cover to cover. [9:00], [9:18], [9:26]
- Zooming in seems like a bad idea during close quarter combat. [9:12]
- A shot to the leg can be lethal as well. [9:20]

It was also mentioned in the video that Future Soldier will feature a 4-player cooperative campaign. I really hope that this will not ruin the game’s story because believe it or not, there are people out there who are interested in the stories in Tom Clancy games.
Ghost Recon: Future Soldier is slated for a Q1 2011 release. Wow that is a long way to go! Can’t wait =D.
