Angel Beats! #1 Tops Weekly BD Chart With 23,000 Copies Sold
The power of Kanade indeed. Angel Beats! #1 was released last week on 23 June 2010. The Blu-ray version topped the Daily Chart while the DVD was #6. It is reported that 23,000 copies of the Blu-ray has been sold, topping the chart during the June 21-27 week.
It is the first new Blu-ray to top the chart after Evangelion:2.22 You Can Not Advance held #1 for 4 weeks.
I checked out the DVD version of Angel Beats! 1 and looks like folks prefer Blu-ray version to DVD version now. The DVD version only managed to get #5 on the Oricon Weekly Chart. WORKING!! is #4. Looks like WORKING!! is more popular? Lol.

Ah, the “big name” effect.. hopefully this means PA Works will have enough money to finally release an anime that’s actually worth watching, let alone worth buying. It seems Maeda needs a better director to reign him in, or he just writes incoherent crap and hopes that you’ll cry enough not to notice. Ah well, clearly people don’t care about writing quality in anime, so I guess it doesn’t matter.

Man that is harsh. I disagree with the anime not needing good writing. I also know lots of anime with good to great writing.

different folks have different taste. Of course there are people who follow the crowd.. so the show may end up being famous still -.-
