Still No News On Persona 5. Catherine Anyone?

So the Tokyo Game Show 2010 has been over for a few days now, and what have I finally noticed…?

There were totally no news about Persona 5! I know it is impossible to get much news about it since it was only around March we got words that Atlus is starting work on it. But I was really hoping for some words on the development progress. So whether or not they decided to go portable and release it on the PSP, who knows.

What they have been putting more time into however is a new game called Catherine. It is quite possible that they are using this game to test out their engine for the current-gen consoles. Well if that’s the case then at least Persona 5’s development will be more “stable” I guess.

Here is the 2nd trailer for Catherine, as shown during TGS ‘10. If Atlus is really using this game as a test, then there is a possibility that Persona 5 may be cel-shaded. But then again, the Persona games as I recall never used cel-shading so it will be a weird change to me.

So… Catherine… What a weird looking game huh? It looks like some sort of psychological drama with freaky monsters in a gritty Alice in Wonderland-like environment. The crazy world is suppose to only exist in his dreams but from this second trailer, it seems the dream world is crossing over to the real world.

To be honest, I am having mixed feelings about Catherine. At first I was really into it because it feels like a murder mystery. However as more and more supernatural stuff gets introduced, I am not liking the game as much anymore. The things that disturb me the most are those lambs and the fact that the main character is turning into one of them. I think watching the movie Black Sheep played a big role in me being turned off.

For those of you who are still excited about it, Catherine is set to be released around Winter 2010 in Japan for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. No news about English release dates so far.
