Nintendo Wants 1.5 Million 3DS Systems In Japan
My my, is Nintendo expecting too much? The 3DS will be out this February 26 2011 at a retail price of 25,000 yen. Nintendo is aiming to ship 1.5 million 3DS systems to the Japanese market by the March end of this fiscal year, according to a report at Wall Street Journal.
CEO Satoru Iwata shared the shipment figure with the Journal in an interview conducted on the 9th. The publication also lists a 4 million worldwide shipment figure by the end of March, but this was announced back at the September Nintendo Conference event.
It’s pretty expensive for a portable console, but the 3D specs are certainly tempting me. I have to see whether it will hit the 400 dollars retail price in Singapore. If so, I will skip it.. 400 dollars can easily get me a brand new PS3 ._.

They are asking for a bit much, even more so by the fact that they have announced the 3DS will only have 3 hours of battery life…. That is equal to my laptop. How can they even call that a portable system?

Sounds ambitious. With the price near one for a PS3 and it apparently being region-locked it may turn down some potentially interested players. I haven’t planned to get one yet, but my cousin is would like to get one for the remakes of some classic games. Now he’s not so sure to be honest.
