Sony has been hinting the new PS3’s arrival for quite some time now, but yesterday they finally let the cat out of the bag at German Gamescon. The PS3 Slim will  be released September 1st for an acceptable $299.
The PS3 Slim itself is said to be a third lighter than the original, draw a third less power, and will come with a 120GB HDD. Other features will be the same as the soon to be PS3 Cheap.

Tokyopop, one of the biggest American distributors of Manga has announced that they will start releasing some of their series online. Some of announced series are PSY*COMM, Boys of Summer, Earthlight, Patheon High, Undertown, Gyakushuu, Kat & Mouse, and a plethora of non-Japanese Manga.
Ealier this summer Shounen Jump (Japan) announced they would start putting manga online, and manga is available for purchase  in Japan through the PSN for PSP users.
Its a shame I don’t recognize any of the titles Tokyopop will be releasing. Its more like a commercialized scheme …

PS2 Japanese RPG Persona 3 will be coming to the PSP this fall with some interesting changes.
 The port is due November 1st 2009, and will feature a number of changes, the most notable of which is that the protagonist will be a female instead of the previous male.
Additionally, an entirely new character is promised, looking to be a male version of Elizabeth; some gameplay additions in the form of new difficulty levels are also promised.

Where I live in the US we’re on the tail end of a heat wave. Most of the summer here was cool and rainy, I think I joked with Zenical a few times that it felt more like an eternal spring than summer. But the last week has been all sun, muggy, and about 100 degrees Fahrenheit (38C) or more if you count the humidity index. A few days ago Newtype announced that they had a *HUGE ANNOUNCEMENT* about Haruhi in their next issue.  Its not only one HUGE announcement… but Four.

The anime series Unko-san is a comedy about the daily life of Poo. This is such a random series I’m sure some people would ponder what exactly the producers were on when such a scenario was thought up, but the Koreans are infuriated that one of the Poo’s resembles a Korean.

Koreans allege that a character named “Kim Ben” (“Ben” is a pun on the Japanese character for excrement), who loves kimchee, has narrow eyes and is “easily angered,” is in fact an attempt to liken Koreans to nightsoil.

If we want to be technical this is an announcement of an announcement. Newtype is saying that their next volume will include a *HUGE* haruhi announcement. No hints are given though, leaving it open to fan speculation for the time being.
I can only imagine one of three things

The Mio Moe Blob  series K-On has set record heights, defeating world famous anime such as Code Geass and even GOD Haruhi.
33,000 Blue-Ray copies were sold in addition to 8,000 dvds on it’s opening day giving it a total of about 41,000 sales. Here are other outstanding anime sales records that Mio fanboys seemed to have crushed.
Code Geass Volume 1: 36,634 (68,821 total)
Code Geass R2 Volume 1: 25,955 (59,041 total)
Macross Frontier Volume 1: 17,548 (64,981 total)
Haruhi volume one sold 31,000 on the first day.
