This remake adds a number of new features:

• A new character named Mary
• 1.5 times the voice of the PS2 version
• Wireless support for calling on others to help you when you’re about to die in a dungeon.
• Other elements that fans of the original have heavily requested
• New opening anime with new song from Shouji Meguro
• New animation movies

A bit more surprising is Persona 4 The Ultimate In Mayonaka Arena. Atlus is teaming up with Arc System Works for a 2D fighter that will be released first for arcades in Spring 2012, then for PS3 and Xbox 360 in Summer 2012.

BlazBlue fighting series is developed by Arc System Works, but it has been reported that the Persona team is heavily involved in the Persona fighting game, stating that they want to be a joint development.

The Ultimate in Mayonaka Arena has a new story that takes place two months after the events of Persona 4. Characters from Persona 4 and Persona 3 will feature in the game.

Let’s not forget about Persona 5, as basic preparations for the game’s development have been completed, with the usual staff members in place. That includes Katsura Hashino as director, Shigenori Soejima as character designer, and Shouji Meguro as main composer.

Pretty interested to see which platform brought in more sales. The PS3 or Xbox 360? Guuzen has bought the game last week and has completed it already. I feel like playing it myself too :D.

Some details of what Catherine is about:

The PlayStation 3 game revolves around Vincent, a corporate employee who suffers insomnia until he meets a mysterious woman named Catherine — after which he begins having nightmares. The mature action-adventure/puzzle game is a collaboration between the Japanese game studio Atlus (Persona) and theGenius Party animators at Studio 4°C.

Catherine will be available for sale next week, on the 26th of July 2011 for Xbox 360 and PS3. Looks kinda nice and terrifying at the same time.. :D

You should have a pretty good idea on what to expect in the English version by now. I have to say that I am personally satisfied with this quality of voice acting. Then again, Atlus had done a great job localizing the Persona games so I expect nothing less.

So Atlus has brought back three familiar voice actors from their Persona games: Troy Baker (Kanji Tatsumi from Persona 4), Laura Bailey (Rise Kujikawa from Persona 4), and Michelle Ruff (Yukari Takeba from Persona 3). In Catherine, they are representing Vincent Brooks, Catherine, and Katherine McBride respectfully. I thought Laura Bailey voicing as Catherine fits really well since Rise Kujikawa had a flirtatious attitude as well XD.

There is one bad thing about the English version though… The characters’ lip movements are still according to their Japanese voices. For Square Enix, they went the extra mile to lip sync every character in Final Fantasy XIII according to their English voices, including the FMV cutscenes. However the quality of the voice acting leave something to be desired. Since Atlus is not doing that, I really hope we can switch between the English and Japanese voices in the options menu. Other than the lip sync issue, I don’t think I have any other complaints.

So if you are still really interested in Catherine, you can go for the “Love Is Over” Deluxe Edition. It comes with Vincent’s boxers, Vincent and Catherine’s T-shirt, pillow case with sexy Catherine printed on it, and all these will be packaged in a “Stray Sheep” restaurant pizza box. Oh yeah, you know how the English version’s box art is “censored”? Well good news, because the Deluxe Edition comes with the original Japanese Vincent-in-cleavage box art.

Catherine will be released on 26 July 2011 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Has this scene been happening to you a lot?

Writing at the official blog, director Katsura Hashino says that an upcoming patch will make the game easier to play. No date has been stated for the patch.

The reason the game’s action parts are so difficult, says Hashino, is that they adjusted the game to make it so that players would feel the thrills of the nightmares and get a feeling of accomplishment. It’s also possible that the staff just got too good at the game.

The official site will also address the difficulty through a new “advice” page. This will provide strategies and tips for getting through each stage, limited just to easy mode.
