Three of the retailers: Amazon, Gamestop and Bestbuy will be offering you some goodies when you preorder with them. Amazon’s giving you boss Omega whom you can use in your party once defeated. Gamestop is just offering Serah a special costume, while Best Buy preorder entitles you to a hardcover book containing “Final Fantasy XIII -Episode i-,” a novella connecting the stories of FFXIII and XIII-2.

While it’s good to get Omega in your party, having a physical book for collection is also cool. I foresee many diehard fans getting 2-3 copies of the same game just for the preorder bonuses!

The NA release of the game would be out on 31 January 2012.

The trailer on YouTube has been flipped horizontally and shrunk to SD, but do enjoy the trailer. Now I am all excited for Final Fantasy XIII-2!!

I still don’t understand why Square Enix wants to have different singers singing for different types/versions (whatever) of Final Fantasy XIII-2!?!?

FFXIII-2 has time travel elements, so no exact details as to where the pictures are from.

Both the PS3 and Xbox 360 game will be at a retail price of 7,980 yen.

And yes, Square Enix knew how successful they were in their FFXIII PS3 Lightning set, so now they’re releasing a Version 2 of the Lightning set. This time it’s a black set of 320GB. Previously it was a white set. The PlayStation 3 Final Fantasy XIII-2 Lightning Edition Version 2 is priced at 37,960 yen, bundled with the Final Fantasy XIII-2 game.

No details announced as to whether the PS3 Lightning Ver.2 would be released outside of Japan. Hope they do!

Toriyama was asked by attendees for a more specific date than the currently announced December timeframe. He responded “It will be announced at Tokyo XXXXXX.”

The number of Xs in his response — at least as Famitsu.com transcribed it in its report from the event — matches the Japanese word for “Game Show” (which is just “Game Show”). Keep your fingers crossed for some big announcement this week!

Short summary
