The character designer for the first Code Geass anime,  Takahiro Kimura, will be the animation director and character designer for this project.

The title of the OVA is Senjou no Valkyria 3: Ta ga Tame no Juusou and it is set to be released in Spring 2011. No other information has been given so whether or not this will be a side story or a prequel, we will have to wait.

Oh yeah, the PSP demo for Valkyria Chronicles 3 is out on Japan PSN, so you can download it onto your PSP now! I won’t be playing the demo since I can’t read Japanese. However, that doesn’t stop me from watching people’s playthrough on YouTube =D.

Production for Toaru Kagaku no Railgun OVA has been confirmed as you can see from the image above (it is a flyer included in the preview sample of its manga’s 5th volume). No other news has been released about the OVA other than it is slated for an October 29 release. That is just four months away! (T_T). Oh well… At least we will get more Misaka =).

It is most probably going to be just a single episode OVA, so I really hope that it is going to be epic! Or really really funny =). Let us all wait and see for ourselves.

According to Anime News Network though, it seems that it is not going to be broadcasted on television. Instead, it will be available on DVD which are going to be shipped with the manga’s 9th volume this summer. This probably makes the anime adaptation an OVA instead of a proper series which is quite a disappointment for me since I enjoyed reading the manga. Checking out MAL, it was spotted that the manga is getting an OVA.

For those of you who have not read the manga yet, it is quite a typical school life romance story in the sense that you have two students falling in love with each other, then some problems arise and they will jeopardize the couple’s relationship. However, I find myself enjoying it more than most shoujo manga… Weird… Maybe it is the character design or the social interactions between characters? Or maybe it’s the chain of events that are happening around them? I dunno!

No specific release date has been confirmed but it will be released this summer.

Scheduled to premiere on BS-TBS satellite and cable channel on October 17 and 24. Following that, there will be a DVD and Blu-ray release on December 23.

The original cast members will reprise their roles!

Shouji Saeki is returning from Mahoromatic: Summer Special to direct this new work at the Gainax anime studio, and Kazuhiro Takamura is returning from every previous Mahoromatic anime project to design the characters and oversee the animation production. Also reprising their roles are most of the cast members and the musical composer Toshio Masuda. Tatsuhiko Urahata (Strawberry Panic!, Ichigo 100%) is writing the scripts based on Bow Ditama and Bunjuro Nakayama’s original Mahoromatic manga.

I didn’t watch this anime before o.o. But I will catch it this October =D.

Gundam Unicorn will be a 6 episode OVA series released in Spring of 2010. It is based on the first two volumes of the Gundam Unicorn Novel. The story is a sequal taking place 3 years after Mobile Suit Gundam: Char’s Attack.

I had seen news of this pop of several times in the past month or two, but its so hard for me to take a Gundam with the word “UNICORN” in its title seriously xP

According to the official website, the title is “Zan Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei Bangaichi” It’s a two-volume OVA and the first volume will be released on November 17th.

The new OVA will be bundled with the manga Volume 19. The limited edition of the manga volume 18 has an extra DVD, which includes 13 OP & ED songs of the series and a preview of the upcoming OVA.

I never actually caught Zetsubou Sensei, I only heard of the anime thanks to bluesnow’s obsession with the show =P. What about you? I must catch it one of these days ><.

News about a third season of Black Lagoon has been floating around for quite some time, but finally we’ve been supplied with two major updates; Its not coming till 2010 and its will be an OVA series instead of  TV like its two season predecessors.

For those of you who have not seen Black Lagoon; Its starts with a civil boring Japanese Salary man who is kidnapped by modern day pirates. After his rescue he decides to leave his safe life and live amongst the mercenaries and crazies of the underworld. Almost every episode is a huge city wide chaotic gun fight between different gangs; the Russian Mafia, police and armies, even killer ninja maids.

I can’t say I’m happy about an ova series at all; this pattern is becoming far too common lately. Hopefully its still a full 12 season Ova series or the Four year wait will seem like somewhat of a waste.

Today the August issue of Newtype magazine revealed that it will be an OVA series, entitled 「Shakugan no Shana S」.

Quoted from an Animedia August issue:

We launched “Shana Project” with a view to ending the Shana anime series. Before moving on to the third season, we need to describe the backgrounds and the relationships between the characters more in detail. So the project began with the OVA series.

The fans who commented at Shakugan no Shana S3 post are going to be very upsethappy at this. OVA and Season 3 eh?? XDXD.

Meanwhile, fans who can’t wait for the OVA to premiere in October 2009, can go rewatch Season 1 and Season 2. Lol.

This year’s 32nd issue of Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine will announce on Monday that three new OVA volumes based on Kentaro Yabuki and Saki Hasemi’s To Love-Ru manga have been green-lit.

For those who have yet to watch the To-Love Ru anime or are not reading the To-Love Ru Manga, do watch/read it. While on the exterior it may seem like the typical harem-ecchi show, the series actually goes beyond that.

The manga so far has gone beyond the daily activities of Rito and Lala and focused on more character development for Sairenji, Mikan, Yami and Yui. While the Anime Series mainly consisted of fillers and the usual comedy-ecchi situations, the OVAs feature more on the character development portions of the show which makes To-Love Ru one of the more decent reads/watches. Personally I can’t wait for the last episode of the 1st series of OVAs as well as the new set of 3.
