The stage version is titled Visualive Persona 4, and will run from 15-20 March 2012 at the Sunshine Theatre in Tokyo’s Ikebukuro district.

Plot Summary

Yu Naukami is a high school student who is forced to move from the big city to live with his uncle and cousin in the small town of Inaba. He quickly becomes acquainted with three other students. After a gruesome murder of a reporter ,meeting Igor the persona knowledgeable in the velvet room, and almost getting stuck in a T.V. ; Yu and his friends find themselves in a foggy world in side the T.V. where they are attacked by creatures called shadows. In the ensuing conflict Narukami summons his persona, the facade used to overcome life hardships, Izanagi. He and his friends are then thrust into a mystery which if left unsolved may claim the lives of more innocent people.

It’s just a short sneak peek at the game, showing off some new additions to the game. I’ve spotted some new cutscenes and also a new character named Marie (voiced by Kana Hanazawa!). You can now use a scooter though I don’t see any use of it since you can fast travel with the square button. Maybe it is for some new areas.

Other additional features which are not shown in the trailer include more character outfits, personas, dialogues and also an online feature which allows you to call other players in for help in the dungeon. Its quite a neat idea on paper, but I wonder how often will I actually use it.

It seems like Naoto is still being left out. Well there are still five empty slots left to be filled in the character page, though three of them would probably be taken up by Dojima, Nanako and Adachi. There is still some time before October so we shall see :).

So initially, I thought that the series was gonna be splitting into two seasons with the first one covering the first four characters: Yu Narukami, Yosuke Hanamura, Chie Satonaka and Yukiko Amagi. This is because the character page of the official website only listed those four. However looking at the latest trailer, it seems like Kanji Tatsumi will be making an appearance as well.

Hmm… If all the Persona 4 characters are gonna be squeezed into this one season, then I’m really hoping this will be 20-episode series.

We get to see the actual visuals now!]]> Somehow I missed out on all these trailers of the new Persona 4 anime. We get to see the actual visuals now!

After watching PV #3, this anime is starting to have a way more serious feel compared to the game. This is probably because most of the game’s storytelling is through silly in-game gestures, so we don’t get to see stuff like Chie panicking and holding Teddy so tightly that she creates a lot of folds making the situation seem more dire.

As I have stated in my previous post, the official website only listed four characters so this anime probably stops after Yukiko’s part of the story and then possibly end off with some sort of cliff hanger. Can’t wait for the next season when we get to see Kanji, Rise and Naoto!

The anime will be produced by Aniplex. They have released a teaser trailer talking about Mayonaka TV (Midnight Channel) with an address leading to a teaser site that has a countdown clock. I think we are already in the final leg as there is only 21 hours left!! More updates coming soon once this countdown clock ends.

*Update*

The anime is titled “Persona 4 The Animation“. Those of you who went to the teaser site and still see the countdown timer, don’t be alarmed! Click on the channel tuner dial thing and voila! You will be sucked into the Midnight Channel! You will be brought to the official website where you can view some information about the anime production.

They retained the same voice actors from the game so this should be great news for fans! We can finally hear the protagonist speaking in proper sentences! Here are the main characters:

Yosuke Hanamura (voiced by: Showtaro Morikubo)


Chie Satonaka (voiced by: Yui Horie)

There are other characters in the Persona 4 like Rise Kujikawa (voiced by: Rie Kugimiya), Kanji Tatsumi (voiced by: Tomokazu Seki) and Naoto Shirogane (voiced by: Romi Paku) but they were not listed in the character page so this anime could be split into two seasons.
