Just a little heads up to all my readers that this weekend Anime Festival Asia 2011 will be held at Suntec City Convention Centre, 12 and 13 November 2011. Technically it will start on 11 November too, but only for the Cool Japan Forum and Hatsune Miku Live concert!

To me, I feel that the focus of AFA this year is on the I Love Anisong concert! Spreaded over 3 days of concert, we get to immerse ourselves in the largest showcase of Anisong Artistes (well this is nothing comparable to Animelo Summer!)

I’ll be heading to Day 3 I Love Anisong concert. I wasn’t intending to go on Saturday for the Festival + Stage access, but things changed my mind, so yeah I’ll be heading there on both Saturday and Sunday! Do give me a tweet if you’re interested for a meetup ^^.

This year I’m more than ready for the autograph session and concert. Yes. I am so well-prepared as compared to last year xD.

Check-list

  • Lightsticks
  • Poster Holder
  • Towel

I meant to take a picture of the T-shirts I’ll be wearing but unfortunately someone kept rushing me to throw them into the washing machine ^^”.

CDs of Kalafina! Well found my copies and it’s time to refresh my brain with their music ;)

Also powered my spare battery and also equipped myself with a spare memory card!

This is the event guide for AFA11. Have you memorised it? You’re good to go then. I’ll see you guys there!

What’s Happening This Week? [19-21 August, Singapore] http://zotaku.com/2011/08/19/whats-happening-this-week-singapore/ http://zotaku.com/2011/08/19/whats-happening-this-week-singapore/#comments Fri, 19 Aug 2011 06:41:51 +0000 zenical http://zotaku.com/?p=15967 A little update on what’s up for me this week. Tonight is the screening of the Fullmetal Alchemist: The Sacred Star of Milos in Cathay Cineleisure. The movie will be screening for 3 days starting from today. The movie has already premiered in Japan back in July 2011. Really lucky to be able to catch the movie in Singapore too!(even though it’s one month late ha)

Next up will be Natsu Matsuri 2011 happening on Saturday night. It is located at the Changi Japanese School. A lively event where you can have a taste of Japan right in Singapore (well just a little). I always found it a hassle to get the tickets as people line up just to get the tickets which are priced at 2 dollars each. This year I was able to get the tickets thanks to Nanopulp! Will be making my way down to the school tomorrow ^^.

Singapore Toy, Game & Comic Convention (also known as STGCC) will be held on Saturday and Sunday.

I will be attending the event on Sunday as seiyuu Itou Shizuka will be there!! I like her voice, and it would be great to see her in person! Other highlights would be Kishida Mel, who is known for the original character design for the popular anime “Hanasaku Iroha” which is currently airing in Japan. He was also involved as an illustratior for “Kamisama no Memochou” that is currently airing in Japan for the Summer anime season.

Updates will be slower these few days as I will be out attending these events ^^.

AFA11 – I Love Anisong Concert Confirmed Artistes http://zotaku.com/2011/08/17/afa11-i-love-anisong-concert-confirmed-artistes/ http://zotaku.com/2011/08/17/afa11-i-love-anisong-concert-confirmed-artistes/#comments Wed, 17 Aug 2011 15:30:09 +0000 zenical http://zotaku.com/?p=15940 Some artistes are confirmed for AFA11 happening this 11-13 November 2011, as revealed on Tuesday afternoon. Some reason I’m too lazy to apply for the media coverage. Studies and studies. Hopefully once I finish my studies I won’t be lazy anymore.

Well two of them are no surprise to regular folks of AFA since 2008: May’n and Ichirou Mizuki. The other confirmed artistes are: LiSa are FLOW.

LiSa is the singing voice of Yui from the anime series Angel Beats! Apparently it is said that she would be performing live with her band. Girls Dead Monster yeah! On the other hand I’m pretty sad that they didn’t bring Marina (singing voice of Iwasawa)

This is NOT a GDM concert without Marina! Heck bring Lia too! Then it will totally be a Angel Beats! concert already!

Next up, FLOW. I have heard of several of their songs, but never a big fan. Busy chasing other boy bands like UVERworld ^^”. Most memorable songs to me would be “Colors” and “World End” from the anime series Code Geass!

I won’t be touching on May’n or Aniki as.. I’m sure you already know about them, having seen them since 2008 ^^.

Funan Cosplay Engage 2011 http://zotaku.com/2011/04/11/funan-cosplay-engage-2011/ http://zotaku.com/2011/04/11/funan-cosplay-engage-2011/#comments Mon, 11 Apr 2011 11:00:43 +0000 guuzen http://zotaku.com/?p=13616 I attended this little cosplay event in Funan DigitalLife Mall on 10 April 2011 together with two of my friends. My intention was just to look around and maybe snap some pictures of cosplayers hanging around. Well what really happened was I forgot my camera and there were only a handful of people cosplaying.

It seems like the main attraction for this event is an Akiba-style Underground Idol named Chiroru Hoshino. She was singing and dancing on stage to promote her single called Step Up!. She has a small fan base that is growing in Singapore as she already made an appearance before in 2010. She also has some Singaporean pen pals. I asked her when did she started singing. She told me she started in junior high around 2 years ago. She also started playing the guitar a year before that.

Her singing on stage was pretty good, so I bought the single to give it a listen. It was not ground breaking, but definitely decent. You can sample her music in her Myspace page. I’m quite interested to hear more from her in the future.

Jplex Vol.01 @ Republic Polytechnic, Singapore http://zotaku.com/2011/02/20/jplex-vol-01-republic-polytechnic-singapore/ http://zotaku.com/2011/02/20/jplex-vol-01-republic-polytechnic-singapore/#comments Sun, 20 Feb 2011 04:00:18 +0000 guuzen http://zotaku.com/?p=12544 For all you local anime lovers, you may be interested in an event called Jplex happening at Republic Polytechnic in Singapore.

The event is organized by the people behind Anime Festival Asia and is taking place from 4 – 6 March. The “Super Anisong Live” and anime movie screenings are the main features, and there will also be merchandises being sold. Maybe treat it as a mini AFA? Below are some info about the concerts.

FLOW (Music Concert + Meet and Greet)
Time: 5th March @ 20:00 | 6th March @ 1900
Price: $98 (SGD)

angela (Music Concert + Meet and Greet)
Time: 5th March @ 14:00
Price: $98 (SGD)

angela is coming back! It has only been 3 months since AFA and angela is flying back to Singapore for another live performance. I am not a fan of FLOW, but I’m sure some people are :). There is no bundle package so far, so you’re gonna have to cough up SGD$196 if you want to go for both concerts. Tickets will be available on 21 February.

For the anime movie screenings, those 3 movies are not exactly something that I look forward to although there will probably be a lot of people watching the Naruto Shippuuden movie. Unlike AFA, you have to purchase the movie tickets if you want to watch them. Tickets will be available on 28 February.

I may be going for the event to get my hands on some merchandise and hopefully take some pictures of cosplayers hanging around. This may be a good excuse for a Zotaku outing :).

Took them long enough to get the schedule out. But yeah it’s finally out. Who’s heading AFAX this year? I will be heading down both days!

I will be attempting to do a short post about AFAX, before AFAX – that is if I have the time. I am quite busy as it is right now due to school. Trying to finish up everything so that I can enjoy AFAX! ^_^

Chinese New Year http://zotaku.com/2010/02/20/chinese-new-year/ http://zotaku.com/2010/02/20/chinese-new-year/#comments Sat, 20 Feb 2010 07:12:04 +0000 zenical http://zotaku.com/?p=5843 It’s the time of the year whereby I’m busy collecting hong baos, also known as red packets which contain money. Chinese New Year this year is on Valentine’s Day! My first day was packed with visiting my relatives, hence I wasn’t at home the whole day! You do notice that zotaku is quiet nowadays. It’s CNY, and also my exams are nearing, hence I find myself buried in my notes instead of checking for new updates T_T.

Last week I was at Chinatown to collect my figurine from the local shop. Chinatown is also the place to take some pictures since CNY is just around the corner. The area was packed with lots of decorations, also, I didn’t know where to head to XD. Here are some random shots I took while walking along the streets. Enjoy!

It’s the year of the tiger!

God of Fortune.. Closest shot I could do. He was in the middle of a busy road. LOL

Also, my relatives are coming over to my house for dinner tonight, might take a few peektures ;)

SOY’B’ 2010 http://zotaku.com/2010/01/30/soy%e2%80%99b%e2%80%99-2010-2/ http://zotaku.com/2010/01/30/soy%e2%80%99b%e2%80%99-2010-2/#comments Sat, 30 Jan 2010 14:00:05 +0000 zenical http://zotaku.com/?p=5574 Went down to SOY Cosplay Event over at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Doors opened at 11am, I only reached the place around 1150am? Blame the terrible traffic jam and the signboard for pointing me in the wrong directly >_<. Also SOY is the first event that I’m taking with my new DSLR, so most of the photographs turned out to be crap. LOL! I need to polish up!

Anyway here are the photos I took at the event. I didn’t snap a lot of photos since it was very packed, and I was lazy to ask for the Cosplayers to pose for me LOL.

PATAPON!!!

TOGU CAFE. I’m allowed to snap photos :D

See this guy even posed for me! LOL

Overall the event was rather enjoyable, would have been better if the area was bigger. It’s quite cramped. I saw a lot of familiar faces at the event too. o.O

Okay, going to  get some rest now!
