Fall 2008 Anime Line-up
Fall…. new school Semester… the time of year when I loose my mind suffering from evil allergies 24/7, My Birthday, and a whole new line up of series to make my suffering worth while! And I have to say this is the best they’ve had to offer in a while.
Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Gurren Hen
Airs: September 6, 2008
Episodes: 2 (The second airing at a later date)
Website: Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann: Gurren Hen
Genres: Mecha, Comedy, Action
Chance of Blogging: High… But since its a movie it probably won’t actually be out subbed for a while after its release.
Just to clarify this is different from Parallel works (which was awesome btw). This movie will be two parts; one for each half of the series… and it seems to just be a remake of the entire series condensed. Gainax must have had success with the Evangelion movies they released at about this time last year. I don’t know how wise it is to make a remake… but its Gurren Lagann… so I’m sure it will still be epic.
Here’s a link to the trailer.
I’m sure the one on their main site is of better quality if you can actually find it thoughXD
Lucky Star OVA
Airs: September 26, 2008
Episodes: 1 (40 mins)
Website: Lucky Star OVA
Genres: Comedy, Slice of Life
Chance of Blogging: Probably none since Zenical will probably ninja itXD
She already posted an introductory post of it here.
While the commercial that they’ve released gives us absolutely no hints of what this OVA will actually be about whatsoever, if its half as much win as the OVA poster above then I expect very high things from this.

The story is set in 19th century England and centers on a “fairy doctor” named Lydia. Her life takes a 180-degrees turn when she meets a legendary blue knight count named Edgar and his crew. He hires her as an adviser during his quest to obtain a treasured sword that was supposed to be handed down to him by his family. (Taken from ANN)
Both the genre and story summary makes me have doubts about whether I would truly like this anime…Mr. Cat in the cat also seems a bit weird, but then it occurred to me. The female protaganist of this series shares the same name as me=D!!!
I have to say the thought of the blond haired bishi saying my name over and over wouldn’t be too bad. So maybe I’ll give it a try at least.
Here a link to the Trailer.

“In a future where mankind is spread amongst the stars in the vastness of space, the TAITANIA family has been able to build a large empire through intimation and economic might. In the year 446, the city-state of EURIA rebels against the tyranny of TAITANIA control. Their isolated act of revolt starts a sequence of events which strains the careful alliances and agreements within the empire, as factions and associations take action to exploit the situation to their best advantage. In the ensuing turmoil, ambitious members of the Taitania Royalty begin to move against each other in an effort settle old grievances and seize control of the family. What started as an act of rebellion in EURIA, quickly expands to a civil war – with the wealth and power of the empire up for grabs for who ever is brave enough to aspire for it.
Based on a novel-inspired manga series written by TANAKA Yoshiki and illustrated GANTETSU, serialized in Shonen Sirius (Kodansha)
This has been described as being a complicated space opera or epic. The original story was published as a series of three novels (1988 thru 1991), and is open ended – as in no conclusion or ending was ever published!!” (Taken from AniDB)
This anime actually looks rather interesting; although the plot sounds like some random Gundam to me at the same time. I was also shocked to find that the main character of this series also has the same name as me… Two shows this season with main characters the same name as me. Its very weirdXD

More than likely a continuation of ef- a tale of Memories. Maybe a prequel? Although I was very fond of the animation in memories, and there was a touching moment or two; overall I wasn’t very impressed. I will probably watch it eventually since I watched the first season.
Hyakko
Airs: October X, 2008

The summaries from every source end up saying something along the lines of “An anime about girls and their random lives.” Pretty much the explanation of ever Comedy Slice of life out thereXD
I will try the first episode before judging though.

One of the noble families of England – Phantomhive, has a butler, Sebastian Michaels. He has unquestionably perfect knowledge, manners, talent with materials. martial arts and much more. But he serves a 12 year old master. (Taken from ANN)
I’m unsure about this one till I can know more about the story. The fact that the butler’s name is Sebastian is pretty funny… silly Japan and their Stereotypes. On another note… do not type this one in Google images. Apparently this is one of those series that certain crazy fangirls have some weird fantasies about haha.
Rosario to Vampire Capu2
Airs: October X, 2008
Episodes: 13
Website: Rosario to Vampire Capu2
Genres: Comedy, Ecchi
Chance of Blogging: None
In case you didn’t see the first season its about a pink haired, Big breasted, Alien, Princess, that shows up naked in a normal shy earth boy’s Bath tub and turns his world upside down. It was too ecchi and breast oriented for my tastes… But I hear alot of guys liked itXD I’m sure this will be more of the same.
*I’ve been corrected since this was posted that I’ve confused the Anime To Love-Ru and Rosario Vampire… They’re both Ecchi anime thoughXD~ I have an excuse right? Plot Summary of Rosario Vampire:
“Due to poor grades, Tsukune Aono, an average high school student, has been unable to get accepted into any private academy of his choice. By exceptional accident, the only school to accept him turns out to be anything but ordinary; the school is attended by youkai disguised as humans. Fearing for his life, he attempts to escape only to meet Moka Akashiya, a beautiful girl who just happens to be a vampire. Despite this, Tsukune decides to stay at the academy, hiding his human nature from students and teachers. Tsukune also discovers that when the rosary around Moka’s neck is removed, her true nature emerges.” (From ANN)
Since I clearly didn’t see the first season I won’t be watching this series.
Junjou Romantica 2

Episodes: 12
Website: Junjou Romantica 2
Genres: Comedy, Drama, Romance, Shounen Ai, Yaoi
Chance of Blogging: Low
I never saw the first season… But I know this series is famous for boy love. Clearly not an anime for everyone, though I’ve heard alot of good things about the first season; all sites I’ve gone to have given it about an 8.5 rating, which for a yaoi anime is very high. The fangirl forces must be very high with this seriesXD

Tetsuya Azuma (東鉄也), also known as Casshern, is a cybernetic neoroider (新造人間, Shinzō Ningen, lit. “neo-human”) who turned himself into a cyborg for the purpose of hunting down and destroying robots that have taken over the world. His late biological father, Dr. Azuma, was the inventor of the robots that were originally intended to serve humankind, but mutinied en masse when their cold logic concluded that the good of the Earth Ecosystem required the destruction of the human race.
Casshern and his robotic dog, Friender, join forces with a beautiful girl named Luna to battle the robots led by their brutal boss known as the Black King. (Taken From MAL)
Soooo… Basically this sounds like Mega Man on Steroids? Something like Cyborg 009? From the Trailer it looks pretty cool if you ask me. I will watch the first episode to check it out for sure.

Based on the description and the trailer it looks interesting enough. Another one of those series that I don’t think I’ll have an opinion of until I’ve been able to see the first episode. The main character having Blue Hair is a plus though^.^

Kouichi Hayase was involved in an accident and falls into a coma for half a year. Due to this accident he becomes depressed and lonely. However, unbeknownst to him he attained a great power and three years later a giant robot (Linebarrel), which was the cause for the incident, appears before him, causing Kouichi`s life to change. (Taken from AniDB)
I’ve actually had this on my to watch list for months… primarily because I thought the poster picture was prettyXD (I really need to stop prematurely judging anime by those things… It usually doesn’t work out very well). Overall is sounds like any Mecha anime series, but I have high hopes in Gonzo to have made something worth while.
The trailer also looks extremely promising, But gonzo is pretty good at playing out an epic trailer and the anime be slightly less than perfect (I’m looking at you Romeo X Juliet.)
Toradora!
Airs: October 1, 2008
Episodes: Uknown

Genres: Slice of life, School, Romance, Ecchi, Comedy
Chance of Blogging: Low
“Toradora!’s story begins with the male protagonist Ryuuji Takasu who is frustrated at trying to look his best as he enters his second year of high school. Despite his gentle personality, he has a natural outer-appearance which makes him look like an intimidating delinquent so he is utterly hopeless about his chances of getting a girlfriend anytime soon, and does not have many close friends either. After being greeted by his hungover mother in the morning, Ryuuji goes to school and is happy to find that he gets to be in the same class as his best friend Yuusaku Kitamura and crush Minori Kushieda. However, it is then that he unexpectedly knocks into “the school’s most dangerous animal of the highest risk level” — Taiga Aisaka — (nicknamed “Palmtop Tiger”) who just happens to also be in his class.
Taiga has a negative attitude towards others and will not hesitate to snap at people. After meeting Ryuuji, she takes an instant dislike for him. After a series of misunderstandings between Ryuuji and Taiga, Ryuuji is taken in by Taiga as her personal servant. Taiga comes from a rich family, though she moved out to live on her own due to family issues. Soon after Taiga learns of Ryuuji’s talent at domestic chores, she gets him to do her housekeeping. Taiga spends a lot of her time over at his house, so much so that she could almost be considered a member of his family. Since Ryuuji spends a lot of time with Taiga, he is opened up to her world and to a side of her that most people do not see. The two also attempt to help each other in order to improve their relationship with their crush (Taiga has a crush on Ryuuji’s best friend, Yuusaku, and Ryuuji has a crush on Taiga’s best friend, Minori). Unknown to them, however, people they know from school start to become curious about their strange relationship together and rumors begin to spread about them.”
Sooooo…. Its sounds like a whiney Tsundere girl bossing around a lazy normal guy. I could almost bet $3 that she’s voiced by Kugimiya Rie since she’s become the standard Tsundere Seiyuu after Shakugan no Shana and Hayate the Combat butler. *Goes to check
… omg… I should have bet more than $3; The female protagonist is infact Voiced by Kugimiya Rie. This will probably be a show I watch, but I’m not sure if I will stick with it all the way through.

Another story of the older anime Fist of the North Star. Supposebly not based on the main character though. I’m sure this anime will be filled with tons of fighting and manliness based on previous installments of the series. I’ve never checked out the First of the north star, but I might check this out for the heck of it.

Together, they protect the town of Sakurashin. But that’s not easy, as the town faces demon dogs and other supernatural threats!” (From AniDB)
I have to say… the only reason I mentioned it is because the Blue haired cat girl caught my eyeXD~ But the summery sounds interesting enough to at least watch the first episode to see what its like.

They’re making a third season of this!!??? I could barely make it through the second one. I’m not a fan of Episodic series. As much as I love Enma Ai I’m not sure I can sit through another season of this, but I will give the first episode a chance.

Even writing about this makes me feel like a little puppy thats about to pee on the nice new carpet because I’m so excitedXD I’m looking forward to this second season even more than Code geass… despite the fact that this season my L****** is no longer with us. If you haven’t seen the first season go watch it right now. If you’re one of those large number of people who dropped it after the boring first 12 episodes go back and give it a second chance.
Now go watch this Trailer.

There was actually an OVA not very long ago that I have not seen. While I’ve yet to see any real plot summary, it sounds ecchi comedy centered. The manga was made by the same author as Minami-ke; So I will definitely be checking this out. The only thing that makes me worry is that the OVA’s were rated R and this series was made by the same people as Kanokon… Thats not a good mixture for someone like me who isn’t a big ecchi fan, but I will hold back my oppinions till I actually see it.

Basically a continuation of the first season. While I’m watching the first season… I’m very far behind. It wasn’t a series I really fell in love with; infact, I would have dropped it if I hadn’t read the manga. As long as my Kaname Sama is present I’ll be watching the second season though.

Can’t find a coherent plot summary, but this is a continuation of the first season of Nodame Cantabile. This series is about music students; Chiaki, the musical Genius, and Nodame… Who has amazing hidden talents but a very odd personality. The announcement of a second season totally caught me off gaurd; I knew the manga was further, but its been a while since the first anime had ended, so I didn’t know if it would be continued at all. I’m really looking forward to this new season; Nodame is one of my favorite characters everXD (Gyabo~)

No summary available yet… I can’t even find the poster in a size greater than a small thumb nail. The small pic I did find showed Nagasumi carrying a smaller girl… she kind of looked like San? Maybe a relative… Maybe their daughter from the future? Who knows. For those who haven’t seen the first season its about a normal middle school boy that saves the daughter of the Mermaid Yakuza and is forced to become her fiance or… Die. It becomes very funny as lots of other mermaid come into the picture to all make the main character’s every day life a living hell. One of the things I’m looking forward to most this season!
Also you need to buy the ova to get this cute San Nendroid!!!

Mizuki Nana voices Moka Akashiya on Rosario Vampire, if you didn’t know. Although, the first description you put up wasn’t far off the mark, there were tons of pantyshots for every thing Moka did, and just a lot of fanservice in general to the point where I dropped the series after the first episode.
I feel like watching Ga-Rei:Zero though, the girl on the poster looks good. :P
Kurozuka’s art also looks great.

Tora Dora is worth a shot. Afterall, the manga series has just begun but it’s growing on me!
It’s actually a big play on names for Ryuuji ( Dragon ) and Taiga ( Tiger ) , same with the title. Also their charactor attributes play along just as well ;
Ryuuji ( Fearsome eyes as inherited by his dad…. ermm )
Taiga ( Fearsome aggressiveness ( therefore leading to the tsundere part where… she’s SUPER C****Y )

I’ve almost watched them all now… almost ~____~
All I have left to watch are :
Kurogane no Linbarells
Hakushaku to Yousei
Akane Iro
and Index o.o
There are 3-4 I’m skipping though because they’re sequals or I just have no interest.
I feel like I will die from anime OD soon though hahaxD
I need to start deciding what I’m going to drop!
We need to start working on post reviewing them all lalala.

Kurogane is pretty good, except the lead goes drunk on power.
Akane Iro is awesome
Index is this season’s rental magica.
