Tokyo’s Arakawa-ku has proposed an ordinance banning people from feeding crows and stray cats, with fines for offenders, ward officials said. The local environment has been damaged with the feedings done by residents.

Feeding is Banned

Under the proposed ordinance, the ward will investigate residents’ claims and issue a warning to offenders. If the offender continues, the case will be forwarded to a committee made up of lawyers and other officials, and measures such as issuing improvement orders and publicly announcing the person’s name will be taken.

A person can be fined up to 100,000 yen if they refuse an on-site inspection. If they do not comply to the ward orders, they can be fined up to 50,000 yen.

It is said that these regulations may hopefully start taking effect as of April next year.

Such measures are necessary but what happened to the dogs? Lol. Do you take pity on strays and feed them?
