GYABO~ Nodame Cantabile, Paris Chapter 1 finally came out over the weekend. Chiaki finally got up the guts over overcome his fear of airplanes and travel back to France with Nodame to attend music school. Episode one is spent on them moving in and Nodame getting used to France and their neighbors… (or rather their neighbors getting used to them) For those of you have haven’t seen the first season I just can’t emphasize how awesome this series is and highly recommend you watch it.

First off there’s a new opening called Sky high. I have mixed feelings about it… I think it will take alot to get used to since I LOVED the first opening. Personally I think an opening for this anime that’s not focused on Piano or instrumental music is kind of silly…

It stars off with Nodame and Chiaki moving into a boarding house run by Chiaki’s mom. They only allow tenants that are music students. They’re rooms are right by each other’s again.

I wanted them to just share a room xD

Nodame starts to play the piano, and their neighbors hear her song and come out to meet them.

Apparently Nodame knows the French Otaku; they took their entrance exams together and he helped her when her books and stuff got knocked to the floor.

Apparently Nodame can’t speak any french… and the Otaku can’t speak any Japanese… so she asks Chiaki to translate this…

At night they go out on the town; first to see a big concert performed by Chiaki’s Hero.

Next they go to fancy French Restaurant.

3… Nodame is stuck ordering while Chiaki ran off for a minute… She orders snails xD

Chiaki makes fun of Nodame for the rest of the night… and criticizes that she needs to learn french before schools starts in two weeks. He refuses to teach her since he needs to practice music himself… Nodame is depressed and ends up drinking too much.

Akihabara > Paris rightxD?

Nodame is drunk and homesick, and criticizes Chiaki for being all high and mighty after he cried like a little girl the whole plain flight over.

Awww… Chiaki’s senpai’s real naturexD? Puppy Chiaki…

Nodame ends up having to be carried home drunk and tucked in by Chiaki… but she wakes up in a better mood. She begs that Chiaki show her around Paris… and he slams his door in her face and yells at her to study her french.

Nodame instead asks Otaku to help her learn French.

In the end… Nodame walks in and sees him watching her favorite anime dubbed in French. So she decides she will watch it over and over again to learn French from anime.

Bimbo tries go beg Chiaki to help her connect internet to her laptop… since she thinks all Japanese people must be experts with technology.

Chiaki gives his normal answerxD

Eventually he gives in to her incessant whining… While in her room she’s flirting with him non-stop… and Chiaki says Nodame is not his girlfriend!!!???

WohH!!! Isn’t that how the first season ended… her becoming his gf o.o?

Bimbo flirts even more after this… talking about how she’s all alone. She actually moves Chiaki to the point he smiles. He asks to hear her piano music since he knows she’s also a musician. And…. well… Evil conductor Chiaki is activated again!

Back with the Otaku’s… Mr. French Otaku original enthusiasm for having a genuine Japanese Otaku for a girlfriend is all wore out by now. Nodame watches the same movie all day…

At the end of the day Nodame is 100X better and French though.

Impressions:

I actually liked this episode of Nodame more than this week’s Gundam… that says alot! Lots of funny parts that made it even better than last season maybe evenxD I’m really looking forward to when they start school.

I also want to know more about the Chiaki X Nodame relationship o.o

I don’t read the manga… but at the end of the first season I was about 99% sure that they were hooked up… wasn’t there that whole hugging scene? Maybe I was imagining it.

One completely random note… in the scene where Nodame said she was raped in the expensive restaurant reminds me of a story my crazy French Teach told me back in High School. She was the leader on a class trip in france, and supposedly their bus driver was really hot, and all the girls really like him. They invited the bus driver to their final dinner at a fancy french Restaurant… and My teacher gave a speech thanking the tour guides and staff. She got to thanking the Bus driver… and tried to say “All my female students wish they could kiss you”… But instead said “All my female students wish they could F*** you.” She didn’t realize her mistake… so said it again louder thinking she was just being so quietxD And the Restaurant manager came over and yelled at her for saying something indecent like that in his establishment.

On a last note despite not liking the opening I liked the ending enough. I hate French though… I studied it for 5 whole years… and I feel sick whenever I think of frenchxD Too hard for my brain to handle. The ending was decent though, so I’ll leave you with Tokyo and Paris for now! ^^
