Fall Anime Impressions: Before We Go Winter
Greetings! This is a short preview of our impressions of the Fall Season so far. We’ll be using the rating as follows:
Excellent
Good
Fair
Neutral
Poor
The ratings are based on the first episodes and only the first episodes!
All writers are involved in this post, a lot of blood spilled just to write fall preview -_-. And we’re not doing Vampire Knight Guilty or Junjo Romantica 2. Because all three of us didn’t complete season 1 at all, and Junjo Romantica is yaoi. We hate yaoi! Woohoo!
And because zenical has barely the time to finish watching all the first episodes, we shall just make do with what we have in this post. LOL! And well hopefully some of the screenshots and comments posted here will make you interested in the show! ^^
Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka
Zenical – Good. Romance plus comedy, I like. Oh and Kugimiya Rie is doing the voice of Yuuhi. Worth to catch. And I like Minato, who is Junichi’s sister. She looks like Otome!(Da Capo) I heart Otome. X)
M – Excellent. This is my kind of anime series to watch and blog about, and I’m not saying this just because I’m blogging it. Kugimiya Rie is one of my favourite seiyuus so naturally I would be attracted to any series she’s doing. :D
Casshern Sins
Bluesnow – Fair. Nice animation and mysterious story. I don’t have much to say about it since not much has happened yet. Its a bit slow and they probably didn’t give enough plot in the first episode. Character animation reminds me alot of something from Cyborg 009. I will watch the second episode at least, but I don’t know if I will continue it.
Zenical -Poor. Because I don’t like pretty robots ><. But I like the little girl – Ringo though. Ringo may be my motivation to watching this anime. Most likely this will be on backlogged – until I find time to watch.
M – Poor. Not a show I would watch on a regular basis. In fact I was thinking of giving it a skip, but decided to watch the 1st episode anyway to do this impression.
Chaos;Head
Bluesnow – Fair. In one word… weird. Its genre is Horror Mystery, about murders and some lonely delusional Otaku that saw pictures of the murder before it happened. And when I say delusional Otaku I mean he talks to his imaginary 2-D girlfriend. Will watch next episode at least to clear things up.
Zenical – Fair. Otaku fanboy? Uh? Having 2D character to be his girlfriend is really lol. And suddenly some weird image url link appears, he clicks and it comes true the next day O_O. Also this anime touches a bit on otakus and their way of thinking – which is sorta true. Guys who are in into 2D will not be in into 3D. RIGHT RIGHT? Is interesting, definitely going to continue watching for more thriller action XDXD.
M – Neutral. While I have not caught this show yet, the images I’ve seen from the 1st 2 episodes are exciting enough to get me started. Not saying that I’m promoting it already, just saying that it looks worthy to be given a shot.
Clannad After Story
Bluesnow: Excellent. Its CLANNAD. I don’t really need to say more about this to say its worth watching. I liked the first season and the second season seems to be living up to its Standards of awesomeness. (And I want Fuuko too like Zen o.o)
Zenical - Excellent. But where is my Fuuko? T_T. Anyway as you know, I’m blogging this anime, lol so of course it’s EXCELLENT! Looking forward to it.. and of course perhaps I can get to see Fuuko. Hopefully.
M - Excellent. Contrary to the Zen and Blue, I’m actually pretty pleased they took Fuko off the main roster. That’s not saying that she won’t be back though, but CLANNAD ~After Story~ did an excellent job keeping her gone from the main roster. Less Fuko = More Tomoyo= I Like.
Earl and Fairy
Zenical – Excellent. Because Nana Mizuki is voicing the main female lead. Any more reasons? Lol.
M - Poor. Just not my type of show. It was a combination of factors that led me to avoid this show, 1st the timing in which the show was set, 2nd the design of the characters which although reminds me a little about Itazura na Kiss, needs improvement.
Bluesnow - Excellent. I started watching this anime with VERY low expectations… in fact… I only watched it at all because the main character shares the same name as mexD But it ended up not only having some of the sexiest anime characters this fall… but having a decent story line as well. Even without the stories hearing the smexy guys say my name over and over again is a reason for me to watch itxD
Ga-Rei -Zero-
Bluesnow – Fair. Action and interesting plot… a bit confusing though. I watched the first two episodes at this point, and from what I’ve seen I’m having trouble connecting to any of the characters. The action is decent, although some of the battles drag on too long. I will watch a few more episodes probably, but not exactly a series I’m too excited about.
Zenical – Good. I like it when people die. Woots. Where are the damn main characters XD. Anyway I hope this is worth watching.
M - Poor. A show where everyone dies in Episode 1 and another lead character ‘dies’ in Episode 2? No thanks, this is way too bizarre for me.
Gundam 00 S2
Bluesnow – Excellent! It started off great, I was worried it would start off slow with explanations of the last 4 years, but instead they started off with battles and new enemies. I like the way the characters are developing, and of course I’m going to watch this! I’m blogging itxD I miss my Lockon though TT____TT
Zenical – Excellent. It’s Gundam, how can I miss for the world? Anyway I got really confused because I forgot some of the details, and I couldn’t recognise Louise’s face. OMFG. She’s in the A-Laws, did she regenerate a hand?! Gundam 00 S2, worth watching. I want to see more Meisters in action! ^^
M – Excellent. Two words. One name. Felt Grace. My 1st and most important reason for watching this.
Hyakko
Bluesnow – Poor. My least favorite series of the Fall season… I could barely make it through the first episode. Not much to the characters, no plot, slow, not funny. It feels like it was trying to copy certain other slice of life anime… and failed miserably. I have no plans of watching the rest of this series.
Zenical – Neutral. Uh. Comedy, slice of life. Was okay for a first episode. Looking forward to episode 2, maybe it’ll be nice. And Aya is in it, voicing a timid girl. It’s something new to me. I know Aya because she did Konata and Haruhi, but this time, it’s wayyyy different.
M – Poor. Stopped watch after 10 minutes bcause it was plain boring.
Junjou Romantica 2
Bluesnow – Good This was an anime I wasn’t expecting on watching. I’ve never really watched any Yaoi anime before… unless you count Kyou Kara Maoh with their sporks marriages and pink PJ crossdressers xD But I decided to give it a shot. The premise of the show is about older men raping guys half their age every episode xD There’s story in romance in there some where… but Boy love is pretty much the jist of the show…. And I liked it for some reasonxD (Bluesnow is turning to the dark side wahahaha) But in all seriousness… they don’t SHOW anything… its much less hard core than say ecchi shows like Kanokon =_____= I enjoyed, but definitely not an anime for everyone.
Zenical – Watching yaoi anime reminds me of someone I hate, so no, I DON’T WANT TO WATCH YAOI! LOL.
Kannagi
Bluesnow – Fair Not the most original anime ever, but it drew my attention in enough to watch the second episode. I don’t like the main boy… he the typical male protagonist.. I don’t know what his name is, nor can I remember what he looks like even. Main girl randomly shows up in his life and turns it upside down… sounds like the start to most harem anime… which I expect this will become since the cover generally has three girls on it. At least Pizza Hut sponsors it, I dont’ really have much else to say positive about this series.
M – Poor. Boy carves a goddess out of wood and he doesn’t do anything or try anything on her? Don’t get me wrong, I’m not sick in the mind or anything, but this series is just not realistic enough.
Kemeko Deluxe!
Bluesnow – Good. After watching the first episode I felt like my brain had started to melt. Lots of fast paced action and comedy. Totally random and unrealistic, but in a cool way. Bit of ecchi, but not enough to upset me (who is ecchi hater.) I’m undecided if I’ll keep watching yet, but it is a good anime.
Zenical – Good. This is really funny. I saw the nendoroid of Kemeko, so I was really interested to see what Kemeko DX was all about. The low voice of Kemeko was really irritating yet funny. Will be catching this, definitely – just for laughs!
M - Fair. While I’m liking the possible harem this show offers, I’m very very turned off by Kemeko. I don’t know if it’s the weird voice or the midget body, or the fact that M.M.’s trying to act sexy behind the Kemeko suit but gets all shy when she’s out of it. Will continue to watch if the plot is better but will skip for a better show like, Tales of the Abyss, if the irritating antics of Kemeko annoys me.
Kuroshitsuji
Bluesnow – Good. I was expecting an odd mix of Hayate the combat butler or Kamen no Maid guy when I started watching that… but I got something completely different. This Butler is epicxD I mean… he tries to cook a guy in an oven. Story is a bit unclear, but it seems like the Butler is a demon contracted to a little rich boy? It even feels a little dark. As of right now this is an series I want to continue… if not for anything else the butler is hotxD
Zenical – Fair. I’m catching up on too many anime shows.. This’ll probably be on backlogged since the plot of a butler being scary doesn’t interest me.. Best to leave this at the end and watch at one go XD. And that little master reminds me of Rental Magica! LOL
M – Good. Hehe. Demon butler. Althought I’m more of a fan of the Hayate no Gotoku ‘butler type’, I couldn’t help but catching this show due to the darkness that surrounds it. Take episode 1 for example. The game the little rich boy played with the conman. Everything ‘predicted’ in the cards all ended up coming through to the man. Hehe. Will continue catching this show for it’s dark themes.
Kurozuka
Bluesnow – Good Nice animation, interesting plot, action and drama… but a very slow first episode. It gave me a very Basilisk feeling when I watched it. I love the ending, it might be my favorite new song of the season. I sense potential in this series and will continue to watch it.
M - Neutral. Havent caught this.
Kyou no Go no Ni
Bluesnow - Poor Not my least favorite series of the season… but very close. It was slow, and not very funny… I was expecting more from the same manga ka as Minami-ke. The random ecchi hints don’t really add anything either. I hear that the ova of this was decent… I can’t say I enjoyed the first episode of this at all though. I have officially dropped it.
M – Poor. Saying that this show was bad, would be an understatement.
Michiko to Hatchin
Bluesnow – Excellent. I was very surprised by how much I liked the first episode of this, Nice animation, interesting setting, great character development, and it has an original flair. The first few minutes where awesome with the jail break, and the rest of the episode had antagonists that made me grit my teeth they were so annoyingxD I hope Hatchin grows up and kicks ass! The opening was also pretty good… kind of Jazzy like Cowboy bebop. I’d probably blog this series if my hands weren’t already full with Nodame and Gundam.
Zenical – Neutral. Going to watch, no time to spare. Read bluesnow’s review and can say the story looks good. Only thing is the graphics. Lol.
M - Neutral. Havent caught this. Don’t think I ever will.
Mouryou no hako
Bluesnow - Fair A very creepy anime, and a little confusing, but it definitely drew me in after only 1 minute… a girls head in a box saying “haaaaaaaaa.” I have no idea what way the plot is going to go… but there’s so many unsolved mysteries after the first episode I want to find out. I will continue watching this series.
M - Neutral. Havent caught this. Don’t think I ever will.
Nodame Cantabile: Paris-Hen
Bluesnow – Excellent. One of my two favorite series of the season, the first episode started off epic. Its Nodame and Chiaki in Paris… same stuff as the first season for the most part though. The only negative part about the series is its opening song… I liked the old one more o.o But I will definitely watch and blog this entire season!~ gyabo=3
Zenical - Neutral. Have not caught Season 1. Hee.
M - Neutral. Havent caught this. Never will.
One Outs
Zenical – Poor. I don’t like sports-related anime, so definitely not my type of show. :(
Rosario + Vampire Capu2
Zenical – Excellent. Fanservice anime, but I love this anime. Caught the manga way before the anime was announced. The only sad thing is that TV Stations in Japan have started censoring pantsu shots by using the bat. Stupid bat. I believe this will cause some guys to be very angry. Very very angry. I hate ecchi anime, but I find the censorship kinda irritating -_-. Forget the fanservice, watch for the story! =)
M – Excellent. Moka and Mizore are back. Screw the Succubus and the witch. The Vampire and Icewoman are clearly the superior monsters in the school. One thing that’s putting me off though, is that they totally skipped the part about Tsukune turning into a Ghoul after the events of Season 1. While it looks from the OP that they will be exploring the ghoul part of him soon, I get the feeling that it won’t be enough. As for the fanservice bat in the episodes so far, I blame the japanese population for being such prudes. It’s pantsu, not the thing under it. :(
Shikabane Hime: Aka
Bluesnow – Fair. I’m not really too sure about this anime yet, it was ok, but not enough to make me anxious to watch the second episode. Plot is decent, but characters aren’t as memorable as I’d like them to be.
Zenical – Fair. Zombie girl killing zombies. And the word Hime in this anime really makes me remember of Mai Hime -_-. Might watch this if I find spare time.
M – Poor. Didn’t get the plot after 15 minutes so I stopped watching altogether.
Skip Beat
Bluesnow - Good Maybe I was drawn to this series because of Shoujo withdrawal lately, but really did enjoy the first episode. I loved the main character, and if I was her I’d have thrown alot more than a hamburger at my boyfriend after being used like that. I look forward to seeing how she becomes a star to get her revenge. I enjoy this, but I have a feeling this is a show that a male audience won’t appreciate as much.
M – Poor. I dislike watching Shoujo shows on a general basis, with some exceptions.
Tales of the Abyss
M - Excellent. Might be the best show this season, if I wasn’t so biased towards Gundam 00 because of Feldt. Hehe. Show follows the same story the PS2 game had, and the best part about this is? That you don’t have to struggle against the bosses in the game, and just watch the animated characters do it.
Zenical – Good show. Thanks M for introducing this anime to watch for my fall XD.
To Aru Majutsu no Index
Zenical – Good. As what M stated in his review: Mages + Light Comedy + Action Series equals awesome!! Index’s attire kinda reminds me of Aria. Hee. Well looking forward to this show!
M – Excellent. To anyone that has any objections as to why this is the superior action series in this anime season, please find me personally. I don’t care if Gundam 00 S2 is the ‘godsend’ for Action series, any real anime lover will tell you that Mage battles (like the ones we have seen in Rental Magica) pwn the crap out of Mechas and Meisters.
Tora Dora!
Bluesnow – Good. Much better than I originally thought it would be, but still not my genre of preference. Its Kugimiya Rei… that summarizes what to expect from the series, but what sets this apart is the male character is actually cool for once, instead of the formula passive male that tsundere likes. As of right now I will continue to watch it^.^ But man does that parrot creep me out.
Zenical – Good. Is Taiga the new Louise? Anyway as what bluesnow mentioned, Kugimiya Rie is doing the seiyuu of Taiga. The part where there is urusai really make me think of Shana suddenly. And yeah, she did Shana too. Taiga was done in a meaner cold voice, compared to the voices she did in ZNT and Shana. Looking forward to this, we need tsunderes in our life X).
M – Good. Intitally I was excited for this show, but after Episode 1 and Taiga’s antics, even I couldn’t take it and decided to drop it for a while. However, Episode 3 totally changed me around. Kushieda ish teh kawaii character of the season. Screw Taiga. Anyone can tell you that in real life, everyone would rather be with Kushieda than Taiga. Taiga’s just the weird friend hanging around Kushieda. Why they made Taiga the main female lead over Kushieda, other than for milking money out of Tsundere lovers? I have no idea.
Tytania
Bluesnow – Fair I had my doubts about this series at first. Its animation doesn’t seem that great, and after a very slow 10 minutes of the episode I was very close to dropping it, I mean… they go on about Tea for at least the first 2, but half way through it seems to turn around and have some what of a surprise ending. This has an “older anime” feeling, the opening screams 90’s. It seems to be very focused on Politics and war… If I had to summarize the first episode, just take any episode of Gundam wing that was focused on Treyz Kushranada, and it was just that; Nobles, war, and politics. I will watch a few more episodes but will probably drop if there is not enough character development.
M - Neutral. Havent caught this. Never will.
Yozakura Quartet
Bluesnow – Neutral Its not that I could label anything specifically that bothered me about this anime besides the fact its seemed like another cookie cutter anime… there was just nothing too good I could say about it either. The youkai powers are decent I guess… and some of the characters even look interesting, But there doesn’t seem like there’s enough MEAT to the story. Its an “ok” anime I guess… but with so many good anime this season I already dropped it, just not enough to pull me in.
M - Neutral. Havent caught this. Don’t think I ever will.

I just love its randomness
[Reply]
lol I thought this post is supposed to come out in the beginning of the anime season?
I was told that Akane-Iro ni Somaru Saka didn’t go very well for the majority of the series, only the beginning and the end bit is good, is that true? Otherwise I’m just sticking with 00 and Clannad and that’s pretty much it -_-
