I couldn’t stop fangirling after reading the news at Japan Today. Liar Game is one of the first few Jdrama shows I caught. Until today, most of my drama shows include Erika Toda – I love her! =D.

In case you aren’t familiar of this fantastic psycological drama, Liar Game – Let me tell you more.

Nao Kanzaki(played by Erika Toda), an honest college student, receives 100 million yen (about $1,000,000) and an invitation to participate in something called the “Liar Game Tournament”. When Nao is easily tricked by her opponent, she turns to ex-convict and genius swindler Shinichi Akiyama(Shota Matsuda) for help out of desperation to get the money back. Though Akiyama is reluctant, he agrees to help on the condition that they steal Fujisawa’s money as well, and that he takes half the profits as his reward.

Akiyama succeeds in taking all the money and winning the game for Nao. However, Nao and Akiyama’s success at the Liar Game is far from over and each time they think the game is over, they are forced to return again with higher stakes. Though initially unwilling participants, the pair choose to continue in the game in order to discover the true nature of the organization involved and to try to free other participants from the Liar Game. So there will be a 2nd season: Liar Game Season 2 (which begins in November, Tuesdays at 9 p.m.) and the movie Liar Game: The Final Stage (directed by Hiroaki Matsumoto and scheduled for release Feb 6, 2010). The second season will continue the story from the first season, focusing on the semifinals while the movie will document the finals competition.

When asked what she would do if she won the 5 billion yen grand prize, Toda replied, “I’d buy a house in some place like Okinawa, then save the rest,” while Matsuda said, “I’d make a movie theater and name it after myself. Then I’d only show movies I made.”

Great drama show.. I really loved it. I remember gasping with shock when everyone was tricking each other. XD.
