On Thursday, the new PSPgo hit stores officially. It’s smaller this time round, and a little more costly compared to the past PSP models.

PSPgo

While I have not seen the PSPgo in real life(because I have been busy with my life and I have no time to visit game stores XD), folks who have seen the PSPgo, what are your thoughts?

PSPgo

The cons of the PSPgo is that it doesn’t support UMD and no removable battery!

Specs of the PSPgo compared to the PSP, from Kotaku:

  • Price: $250 compared to the PSP’s $170
  • Screen Size: 3.78 inch WideScreen LCD compared to 4.3 inch Widescreen LCD
  • Screen Resolution: 480 x 272 pixels compared to 480 x 272 pixels
  • Form Factor: 4.8 x 2.6 x 0.6 inches compared to 6.7 x 2.9 x 0.9 inches
  • Games: Downloadable Only compared to UMD and Downloadable
  • Online Gaming: Infrastructure and Ad Hoc for both.
  • Music: Yes for both.
  • Photos: Yes for both.
  • Movies: Purchase and rental for both.
  • Internet Browsing: Yes for both.
  • Memory: 16GB Built-in, expandable Memory Stick Micro compared to Expandable Memory Stick Duo
  • Bluetooth: Only for the PSPgo
  • Connect to Console: Remote Play for both.
  • Store: Playstation Store for both.
  • Skype: Built-in for both.
  • Parental Controls: Yes for both.

It doesn’t look like I’ll be changing my PSP so soon. I hate sliding gadgets. >_<

Lots of more information and pictures over at Kotaku, do check the link out!

Hopefully in time, people will come to accept the new PSPgo. I used to remember how people hated the PSP-2000(which is called PSP Slim, compared to PSP-1000 which is the PSP Phat). But then again, people came to like/love it when it was moddable. LOL.

I’m not giving the PSPgo a go, because I hate sliding gadgets. Give me back the original design Sony, and I will go with it! What about folks out there? XD

If I am to get a PSP I’ll stick with the old ones. New one does not appeal to me tbh.

I’m perfectly happy with my modded PSP Slim. Those PSP Go’s aren’t modable considering the fact that everything is locked down and requring you to have an internet connection to download the games. Also Sony did a [censored] up thing by not allowing people who already have a PSP to simply redownload the games they’ve legally purchased for the PSP Go, instead if you’re a PSP owner and you want to get the PSP Go, you’d have to repay for all the games you’ve already owned.

wth?? That’s really messed up… are they thinking of ways to not make people buy everything again? Or are they not gonna be bothered about it?

There is no point for me to get this…. it’s overpriced, and can’t play UMD…. there’s no reason to get it at all, for anyone!

I don’t own a PSP and am actually somewhat in the market for one, but I will not get the PSPGo because the drawbacks are a bit too limiting.
