Remember the Akihabara murders in June last year? Seven were killed and 10 were injured in a hit-and-run and stabbing rampage in Tokyo’s otaku shopping district. The culprit, is Tomohiro Kato, who is facing trial for his actions.
According to Mainichi, Tomohiro Kato wrote an apology letter to one of the victims.
“However much I repent, however much I apologize will never be enough to make things right, and since my crime deserves death 10,000 times I think I will be sentenced to death,” Kato wrote in a six-page letter to Hiroshi Yuasa, 55, who was wounded in the attack.
“I’m sure everyone’s anger that my trial is dragging so slowly knows no bounds, and I decided that I had to apologize as a person. … I have almost no memory of it at all, but I have absolutely no intention of running from what I’ve done.”
He also said that the victims’ pain “must be something like the uncontrollable anger I felt when my online self was killed on the forum I spent all my time on by trolls.”
Yuasa then commented, “From the way he wrote so politely, you wouldn’t have thought someone like that could have done such a thing. I want to hear the whole story at the trial.”
Good that he realises his mistakes. I guess it was him getting killed online that resulted in the rage. ><

he deserves to die :)
I remember I was in Akihabara the day BEFORE the murder happened. It was all peaceful and normal just like it used to be. Never would have thought that the day after that would be so different.
aa – ask yourself this – ‘why did he do it?’. If you can come up with a RATIONAL reason for it, then yes, I think you can say he deserves to die. What do I mean by rational? Well, for instance a robber taking a gun to a crime and killing someone in order to commit the crime, or perhaps someone murdering someone to collect insurance on them. But this? He didn’t even know who he was killing. I don’t find it the behavior of a rational mind. The man is obviously very ill mentally. The only thing that killing him would achieve is a fulfillment of revenge, which in my book is no better than murder itself.
P.S. I think you’ll probably have your wish though.
@Q: my first time to akihabara was ON the day of the incident! Crowds were gathered at certain locations and there were helicopters, I didn’t know what had happened, till I came back to the hotel and browsed the internet ^^;
@ aa: okay o.O
@ Q: Wow, thankfully you weren’t there on the day itself >_>. I can’t imagine what I would feel if that happens to me
@ B1: What he did is a crime, and whether he gets the sentence or not is up to the law to deal with him ><. We can only leave our comments and see how this goes..
@ YuKi-To: CONGRATS. LOL. Yeah but well you’re safe now, so it’s good ^^.
