Final Fantasy 7 Remake Would Take Years

Previously, I read all over the net that there was this possibility of a FFVII remake. Did anyone else out here played the game? It’s a nice game and I even bought Final Fantasy VII Advent Children Blu-ray for myself :3. On 28 May, in  order to commemorate the launch of Final Fantasy XIII in Korea, Square Enix held a roundtable interview session with FFXIII director Motomu Toriyama, FFXIII producer Yoshinori Kitase, and Square Enix chief Twitter person Shinji Hashimoto.

FF Reunion, a Japanese Square Enix Fansite, posted up bits and pieces from the Korean language transcript that was posted at Gameshot(Korean Game Site).

The staff was asked its usual question about a Final Fantasy VII remake. Kitase responded: “We’ve gotten this question a lot from many countries (laughs). To make FFXIII at this level of quality, it took us 3 to 4 years. If we were to make FFVII in the same style of FFXIII, it would take 10 times as long, so it would be difficult to take it up immediately. However, we always keep in mind how often this is requested.”

Wow!! 30 years later. I would be a Mother or Granny already >_>.

On a side note, with regards to FFXIII sister project Final Fantasy Versus XIII, the staff said that it’staking some time, but development is progressing well. They plan on showing it at the appropriate time. When? Tokyo Game Show? :P.

Those with the ability of understanding Korean should check out the original interview.

I like it if they actually just redo the graphics. I’m a graphics whore :X

why bother making it for the ps3? make it for the ps5!

in reality, i dont think it’ll be worth remaking ff7. first of all, they’re gonna receive criticism no matter how they make it. follow the design exactly to the old ff7, it’ll have the same flaws and will be a 3 year waste of time that’ll try to overshadow the original ff7. Change it a bit and people will complain they’re ruining it, although that’s the smarter option since it’ll serve ff7 fans with something more and it’ll be made for the mechanics/graphics capability of the game. ff7 on the ps1/pc was designed with the hardware available for the time. you don’t make old games on new consoles unless you make use of the console.

if at all, it should be a minor project with graphics coming last. we don’t want another mess up like what happened with ff13 – coming out on ps2 and designed for ps2, then ending up upgrading to ps3.

true. lol. I know the remake would never happen so soon, so just gonna enjoy whatever FF games Square Enix choose to produce.

i’d really like to see a ffvii remake, as long as its nothing like ffxiii(horrible gameplay). if they kept the original feel to it it’d be alright, but i hated xiii-everything except the graphics.

FF13 had too much hype. the only reason why I like the game now is because of the graphics LOL.

remaking final fantasy 7 would be nice but there is no way it will ever happen because of content of the original alone

rebuilding midgar in hd itself would take as much as a newer game because midgar had 3 full cities 3 reactors and multiple dungeons

then kalm town would have to be rebuilt and change during gameplay to match the events as they take place in the town city

junon is actually 2 different cities plus the underwater reactor most other cities had at least one side quest area plus the gold saucer would equal two cities

plus FF7 had twice as many interactive important characters as ny new game and with countless side quest and 3 times as many summons

i wouldnt hold my breath for a remake because of the content from first would have to be changed to make anything even closely related to the same game without changing it so much that it would absolutly suck
