Manga Non Non Biyori Gets Anime

According to the wraparound jacket band on the fifth volume of Non Non Biyori manga, an anime adaptation has been green-lit for production. The manga series first began serialization in Monthly Comic Alive magazine in November 2009.

The slice-of-life comedy is set in a countryside school with only five students total. The nearest bookstore is 20 minutes away by bicycle, a certain “Ju_p” magazine comes out on Wednesdays instead of Mondays, and the video rental store is 10 stations away. Fifth-grade schoolgirl Hotaru Ichijō transfers from Tokyo to this school and readjusts to the slow life in the country. Her fellow schoolmates are first-year middle schoolgirl Natsumi, second-year middle schoolgirl Komari, first-grade schoolgirl Renge, and Komari’s big brother Suguru in the third year of middle school.
