Studio Ghibli’s Latest Hit
Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea is a new film produced by Studio Ghibli and written by Hayao Miyazaki. Said to be released July 19 2008 in Japan, it will be a good few months before we can get the film at our local theaters.
This film is Miyazaki’s ninth film with Studio Ghibli. The plot centers on a goldfish named Ponyo who desperately wants to be a human. In pursuing her goal, she befriends a five-year-old human boy, Sousoke. Miyazaki has been working on this film since October 2006 and despite recent advance in computer graphics that distinguishes modern anime, Ponyo still retains the typical hand-drawn animation. Definitely my cup of coffee since I love Miyazaki’s works. ^^
Can’t wait for the film to be released!
