An animation of some sort for the the manga and PSP game .Hack//Link is currently in production. It will not be a television series, though what exactly they have planned is not explained in any detail. If I had to guess, perhaps it will be something similar to the .Hack/Liminality OVA’s that were released with the original PS2  games, or even a movie.

I am a huge fan of the original 2002 anime series .Hack//Sign. I lost interest in the spin off series which seemed to lack both character depth and originality. The games were also very interesting, but they came in short chapters, and I couldn’t bring myself to buy more than the first 2. Since I currently have a psp, perhaps I should look into tracking down a copy of .Hack//Link when and if it ever sees an English release.

I loved .hack//SIGN and the related novels. The original games weren’t bad, though I never got around to finishing the last one. The Twilight spinoff was sort of cute for what it was, but I didn’t think much of Roots or the newer PS2 games.

So I’m not quite sure what to think about this news. I guess I’ll keep an eye out for more details, though.

You could have posted this before it was announced. An anime was more than possible.

I loved the .hack//SIGN series! And it motivated me very much to continue the series as a whole, because I played all the 4 games and read the mangas that followed (Though the chibi-version story wasn’t great). Needless to say I’m a .hack fanatic :) I currently own the .hack//G.U. games as well but never got around to finishing them, doing so now. I haven’t had a chance to look into .hack//Link but I will soon!
