No Final Fantasy XIII For Asia Xbox 360 Still?

Looks like owners of the Xbox 360 won’t be getting the chance to ride the chocobos at all. Several weeks ago, it was mentioned in the local newspaper that the Xbox 360 won’t be getting Final Fantasy 13. Localized Asia versions with original voice tracks are sold in territories outside Japan like, for example, Taiwan or Singapore, but are only able to run on Japanese Xbox 360 consoles.

Majority of people here have local consoles, I doubt that anyone would actually bother paying more cash for a Japanese or a US Xbox 360 console. The only way local gamers can indulge in the game is through their PlayStation 3 consoles, to play either the current Japanese language version or wait for the English version to hit markets on March 9 in the US.

This is why I don’t like the Xbox console at all. All the region locking stuff causes a big headache. Hooray for the PS3!! The English release of the game would be out this March for the PS3 and Xbox 360, can’t wait for it! Of course the local consoles here can’t play US games, hence PS3 is the only option!

I guess this would affect the sales of Xbox 360 to a certain extent o.O.

It’s strictly locked to NTSC-U huh?

Wonder if there’s going to be a RF version…

Well… typically speaking, PS3 games should be regional free… oh, wait, you’re talking about the 360’s version, I’m bad.

First of all, don’t even bother jumping on this game, regardless if you were planning on getting it for the 360 or the PS3 (btw, the graphics for this game is better on the PS3) until the price drops, and I mean really drops, because paying 60 US bucks on this game will be a complete waste for being so liner that even the developers are ashamed of it.

Second of all, where there are hackers, there are regional free games, so maybe later down the line someone might crack it and release it regional free for the 360.

Sorry but you got to understand that not many folks here mod their own console. As much as you support xbox, we just can’t. And it was reported that the PS3 has more owners than the Xbox over here. And now no FF13 for the Xbox too.. Well its enough to get more PS3 owners now, definitely. I was actually neutral about the whole PS3 vs Xbox thing, but now, this region-locking thing is really too much. As such, I’m glad that the PS3 is using Blu-rays, as such our games are “regional free” :).

If you actually read the comment you would see that I pointed out that the graphics was better on the PS3 meaning that you should buy it for the PS3 if you do decide to get the game.

You have to remember, I’m not a fan boy in any way, shape, or form when it comes to games and game consoles. I am, however, a fan boy when it comes to anime.

    PS3 FTW!

    zenical Reply:

yeah they did, but many were suspicious of the article since they said DL has some inconsistencies? (I’m not sure of this but I decided to blog about this only when the information was proven to be accurate).

Yeah PS3 FTW. Xbox consoles in our region suck.

Wow, there are so many Sony fanboys here. Firstly there is no guarantee that an Asian English version of FFXIII on the 360 won’t eventually be released. There is absolutely no news as to what the region lockout status is for the NTSC/UC version of FFXIII. And as to the PS3 version looking better, where did you get that nugget of information? Some random fanboy chatter on the Internet? Grow up. Sony, Nintendo and MS don’t care about you. They just want your money. Put aside all those misplaced notions of consumer loyalty and actually enjoy playing great games regardless of what console they’re on.

I’m just glad we don’t have to disc-swap when playing Final Fantasy.

And so what if the 360 does eventually get an Asian English release, the fact that the PS3 users will get it in advance is already a plus point.

Not to mention, where did the discussion of which version looks better come from? As far as I can see, no one mentioned it except you.

And whether or not consumer loyalty plays a part in all of this, is a whole other matter. For the track record, 1/2 of the writers in Zotaku own a current-gen console. 100% of which own a PS3. Nothing wrong if we do sound biased to the PS3 in that case.

    1) You should learn to read:

“First of all, don’t even bother jumping on this game, regardless if you were planning on getting it for the 360 or the PS3 (btw, the graphics for this game is better on the PS3)”

As you can see the topic had been brought up before!

    2) Are you trying to suggest that there is nothing wrong with being a fanboy like yourself? If so, I have to disagree with you!

    3) Swapping discs is much faster than having to wait through compulsory installs. I have MGS4 for my PS3. In the initial 7 minute install, followed by subsequent 3 minute installs after every level, I could have swapped DOZENS of discs! Or are you simply too lazy to get up off your couch?

    3) Not being Singaporean, I didn’t realize that Zotaku was a site dedicated to Singaporean Sony fanboys. My mistake. I guess every country has its share of stupid gamers. I play games. I don’t fight Internet battles for companies that mean nothing to me (and to whom I mean nothing as well). If gloating over silly nonsense like this counts as news at this blog I feel sorry for all you subscribers. You deserve better : ).

According to more sources, Microsoft has already mentioned that the game would be out on US or EU release. This piece of news is probably a remainder to folks out there that there still won’t be an Asia release.

sounds like blatant gloating directed at Xbox 360 owners. Something like this fits the whole fanboy definition to a T ;)

ok. I’m going to end this ‘argument’ here before it gets further escalated.

She was just stating the plus points of buying a PS3.

And just to reiterate my point if I did not get it through clearly the first point. She owns a PS3, nothing wrong with ‘promoting’ the console she owns.
Besides, it’s zen’s site, if she wants to flame the 360 fanboys, it’s what she’ll do.

    Mingus Reply:

I agree that she has a right to flame 360 owners. However by doing so, she provides precedence to be flamed about her Sony fanboyism!

dude come on, each person has their own preferences. It just happens that we like our PS3 more. As for you, you will get your FF13, but we don’t. I don’t have a thing against Xbox in general actually, just feel very against the console in our region since the games are very limited as compared to the PS3 one.

    Mingus Reply:

There’s a difference between stating your preference, “I prefer the PS3 because I like its library of games” to the gloating you did at the end of your article. Do your fellow Singaporean gamers who only own a 360 really deserve that?

And as to Xbox 360 titles available in Asia, well there were plenty the last time I checked. I get most of my stuff from PlayAsia anyway, and I don’t think HK has a bigger choice than Singapore with regards to this.

    Ferolare Reply:

I’m sorry but it seems to me that you’re trying to start a flame war between the 360 and the PS3 fanboys. Troll much?

    Moving away from console whoring,

For Final Fantasy fans in Singapore, or other Asian countries for that matter, if they want to play FF13, there’s only one choice for them: the PS3. This is a fact until Square decides otherwise. Nothing to do with Zen gloating/flaming the 360 owners if there’s any to begin with in the article and if you’re referring to this:

“Of course the local consoles here can’t play US games, hence PS3 is the only option!”

With regards to “I guess this would affect the sales of Xbox 360 to a certain extent”:

    1) Fact: 360 is cheaper than PS3

    2) To an Asian Final Fantasy fan who has yet to purchase either console, he/she would definitely get the 360

    3) Now, because of the game being unavailable to Asian 360 console, he/she will have no choice but to buy a PS3

    Mingus Reply:

How am I trolling? Read the article again. In fact read the comments here again. Look at all of you using this opportunity to laugh at your fellow gamers. If this isn’t flaming I don’t know what is.

Secondly there is no guarantee that the NTSC/UC version of FFXIII will be region locked. Sure I suspect it will, but until there is concrete evidence isn’t zenical jumping the gun by stating that the PS3 is “the only option”? For that matter how do you know that Square Enix will not eventually release an English Asian version of FFXIII for the 360? Not everyone is averse to waiting a bit. From what I’ve seen FFXIII doesn’t seem to warrant a day 1 purchase anyway.

In other words the situation isn’t all doom and gloom as portrayed by her article. Speculation isn’t fact!

    M Reply:

what the hell is your problem anyway dude.

she’s jumping the gun? She’s merely reporting what she read. What’s so wrong with that? Currently, the only way for people here to play FFXIII would be via the PS3 or unless they have a US/EU Xbox360 which aren’t common around these parts nor are they cheap.

And you said that you think FFXIII doesnt warrant a Day 1 purchase. That’s what YOU think. There may be others who will want to get the game on Day 1 and zen is probably 1 of them.

I for one am another of those ‘crazy-day1-purchasers’ that has been waiting for this game to be released. If I want to play it on Day 1 where do I turn? The 360? God no, cause it wouldn’t be released on the thing yet. I’ll just get the ps3 copy.

Oh and yes. I do have a 360 as well, and I would never in hell play Final Fantasy on a 360. Call me a fanboy if you must, but there are games that belong on a certain group of consoles, and I think that FF is one of them.

Oh and please, let’s end this comment bashing here.
