The Animation Market Analysis Project of Japan’s Media Development Research Institute (MDRI) reports that the animation market in Japan dropped for the second year in a row to 212.9 billion yen (about US$2.26 billion) in 2008. The same research firm had reported that  the market peaked at 241.5 billion yen (US$2.53 billion) in 2006, before dipping to 230.2 billion yen (US$2.41 billion) in 2007.

Microsoft is teaming up with Japanese Studios to produce an anime series of the game “Halo”. The 7 episode series titled “Halo Legends” will be produced by 5 production houses: Production I.G, Toei Animation, BONES, Studio 4℃, Casio Entertainment.

Microsoft is in charge of the story and the visuals. A trailer will be shown at Comic-Con on July 23rd.

A new Mahou Sensei Negima! OAD has been announced. 魔法先生ネギま！～にひとつの世界～　or Mahou Sensei Negima! ~ Mō Hitotsu no Sekai~’s 1st volume will be released September 17th 2009.

I just love it when Manga gets their TV Anime Adaption. Don’t you?
The June issue of Akita Shoten Champion RED magazine will announce on Tuesday that development has begun on a television adaptation of Hiroyuki Yoshino and Kenetsu Satou’s Seikon no Qwaser manga.

The story is known for its heavy emphasis on fan service, using breast milk as the plot device (lol?!). The manga started has been running since 2006, and the seven volume will be released for sale this month in Japan. ^_^

Looking up anime news this morning I ran across a title with the words “Yotsubato!” and “Anime” in the same sentence and I nearly jumped out of my seat.
