Evangelion 2.0 Posters Put Up For Charity Auction
To celebrate the milestone of the Evangelion: 2.0 You Can (Not) Advance film’s two millionth viewing, with the box-office receipt reaching three billion yen (Eva 1.0 only had two billion yen), an 18-meter-tall (59-foot-tall) movie poster is being auctioned for charity on the Yahoo! Auctions Japan website. An autograph of Co-director Kazuya Tsurumaki is also on the poster.
The auction will benefit the Japan Committee Vaccines for the World’s Children (JCV). You can view the auction for the 18m poster here.
A separate 2.78-meter-tall (9-foot-tall) character poster(image below) is also being auctioned for the same charity. Like Tsurumaki, animation director Hidenori Matsubara signed the second poster.
Both auctions will end on August 19. Currently, the smaller character poster is going at 126,000 yen while the larger storyboard poster is going at 102,000 yen. Wow, lots of money!!
I wonder who are the ones actually bidding for the posters? It’s great that the posters are being auctioned off for a worthy cause ^_^.
On a totally related note, character design Akemi Takada is one of several Japanese anime and manga creators donating sketches to support the victims of this week’s flooding in Taiwan. Like what Q said, I sincerely hope that the folks there are alright ><.

Nice to see otaku spending directed towards a good cause. :)
@ MorpheusDreamweaver: But the question is: Who is actually bidding? An Otaku? XD
Hmmm, I’d have to move to a bigger house to hang the larger banner… Guess I’ll pass on the bidding for now. :-)
I think it may be a little more than I can afford too.
@ loneotaku: Lol. someone is rich =D
