Earthquake in Japan

How many of you actually experienced an earthquake in your country? Living in Singapore, we don’t get earthquakes. Well there was this one time where the earthquake affected us for awhile, tremors we called it - and I still thought someone dropped a heavy object on the floor above me. LOL.

Earthquake in Japan

Thanks to twitter, I was aware of the earthquake which hit the folks living in Japan.

From Japan Today,

In Shizuoka Prefecture, which was hardest hit by a magnitude 6.5 earthquake Tuesday, 59% of municipalities have compiled quake hazard maps.

Japanese seismologists believe that a magnitude 8-class temblor, referred to as the Tokai earthquake, could strike Shizuoka and adjacent areas of central Japan soon.

Terrible news, I hope everyone there is alright! Ever visited a country only to experience some natural disaster happening there?

Image above is taken from Mainichi Photo Journal: Temporary reconstruction work continues on the Tomei Expressway’s Tokyo-bound lanes near Makinohara Service Area in Shizuoka Prefecture, after the road collapsed following a strong earthquake Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2009.

Seriously, I think the situation in southern Taiwan is far worse than in Japan - Typhoon Morakot has caused unprecedented rainfall, as well as a large number of landslides, burying villages and people alive.

There’s been villages completely buried as a result, with thousands of people missing and are feared dead. More over, bodies after bodies are found flowing down the rivers, as well as reports of limbs and rotting bodies being eaten by wild dogs.

It’s not like what happened Japan isn’t serious, but the situation in Taiwan is much more concerning.

wasnt the anime Tokyo Magnitude 8.0 based on this prediction that Japan will soon get hit by an earthquake of magnitude 8.0?

^ Yes it is~ The series is kind of shocking.

There aren’t really any natural disasters where I live. No earthquakes~ Very very few tornadoes (we aren’t exactly in tornado alley)~ Hurricanes are rare (99% are tropical storms by the time they get to us)~ no earthquakes, Even though we get alot of rain~ we usually don’t flood, and because we do get alot of rain~ draughts and forest fires are never really an issue. I live at one of the safest places on earth probably xD

@ clem: Lol yeah talking about Earthquake reminded me of Tokyo Mag 8 too. It’s just an anime to show the events happening when an earthquake occurs.. I felt a lot of the impact of the anime in Episode 1-2, the rest ain’t great now.. >_> Sadist girl.. Lol.

@ bluesnow: Wow, and u’re in the States, well at least in SG there’s not even a single natural disaster, just horrible weather that kill us XD.
