New Final Fantasy XIV Trailer From TGS ‘09
As many of you know, the 2009 Tokyo Game Show is happening now in Chiba, Japan and there will probably be new trailers and gameplay footage of games appearing on YouTube. One of them, is Final Fantasy XIV Online for the PlayStation 3 and the PC.
Final Fantasy XIV Online - TGS ‘09 Trailer
The trailer shows you the beauty and dangers of Eorzea, the land which FFXIV will be taking place in. It will show the different places that you can explore and the different races that you will encounter when you play it. The trailer starts off slow with beautiful background music, then towards the end the pace picks up as the trailer shows a handful of the monsters that you will be able to fight in the game.
FFXIV is the second MMORPG of the Final Fantasy franchise that Square Enix has released, the first being Final Fantasy XI. However, FFXIV will be Square’s first major MMORPG release as it will not be using the PlayOnline service. Instead, they will be using a new system called the “Square Enix Account” system, which will be used for all future Square Enix online games.
As of now, FFXIV will be a PlayStation 3 and PC exclusive title. We all know that FFXIII will be released for the Xbox360, but there is still no news whether it will be getting an FFXIV release as well. Xbox360 owners just have to hope for the best =).
Final Fantasy XIV Online is slated for a 2010 worldwide release.

I was actually kind of angry (and still am) at Squenix for this during E3. I just want them to make a “Final Fantasy Online” and stop giving them numbers. Info on Versus would have been much more appreciated at E3 than FF XIV. But either way, it looks good, and unless it has a console-storyline, i have no reason to get the game.
Might i add that i DO believe Nobuo Uematsu has come back to compose the score for this game as well. Don’t quote me on it, but i think that’s right.
We can dream for FFOnline…dreaming…
It looks pretty good but I’m not super hyped about it.
FFXIII is not even out yet and now they move to XIV. I hope this is a path Square Enix won’t backfire.
Folks from the kendo club are pressuring me to get a PS3,
As for MMO, there was a lot of bashing from WoW players about FFXI, either way I’ll wait to see what’s in store for me the upcoming summer to decide (prospect of getting me a $7-8k research scholarship rests with my first physics test).
If those were ingame graphics, that would be amazing.
wow must buy. The Final Fantasy online series and Guild wars are my favorite MMOs I never really like WoW though.
@kurando
I think FFXIII Versus was shown in TGS ‘09, but it was just some sort of video made using the game’s engine. I believe it is still not ready to be playable.
@Seinime
Haha XD
@Optic
Yeah quite a number of people are saying the exact same thing as you XD. I think there is a high chance of it getting a 2011 release looking at the speed that Square is making their games >.< Hmm… Oh well, we have to wait and see =)
@GNdynames
Oh man I get pressured by Zenical as well =( hahahaah. Hmm well I think to be safe we should just wait for reviews to come in before deciding whether to buy or not.
@Reltair
Hmm I’m pretty sure some parts of the video, like the beginning, are using in-game graphics. However I may be wrong… Maybe the whole video is using in-game graphics =O.
@Donyea
Ah I see if you like FFXI then I guess you should like this one =P Only people who do not like FFXI, should wait for reviews, since this is only the 2nd full online Final Fantasy game.
Not a big fan of MMO’s… >.>
If the new final fantasy XIII isn’t turn based I’ve given up on video games lol.
@bluesnow:
FF XIII is going back to the ATB system, but with some pretty nice tweaks to it. So don’t give up just yet lol. FF XIII is well worth it.
