Xbox Live Smashes Modded Consoles

Users who have a modded Xbox console might have found a treat for themselves on Halloween.

This is what a Microsoft’s spokeperson has to comment on the banning issue:

“We have taken action against a small percentage of consoles that have been modified to play pirated game discs. In line with our commitment to combat piracy and support safer and more secure gameplay for the more than 20 million members of our Xbox LIVE community, we are suspending these modded consoles from Xbox LIVE.”

No further comments were given as to when the bans started, but IGN speculates that it’s been happening over the past week.

I don’t own a Xbox console, but I do know the restrictions of having 1. Games for the Asia region are more limited here, and hence I don’t see many people owning one. But there are some who do, because of the RPG games that are released out earlier than the PS3! But if having a Xbox console to play all the types of games out there, it means I have to mod it, and to not use Xbox Live, is really very sucky.

Do you own a pirated Xbox console?

Nope. The lack of the ability to play imported games just makes me angry, hence I am getting a PS3. Soon Hopefully
