Splinter Cell: Conviction Is Looking Good

I was never a Splinter Cell fan because I am not much of a stealth player. I can play stealth in Assassin’s Creed or maybe some parts of Crysis, but usually if a game is too heavily stealth based then I will skip it. However, after E3 2009, Splinter Cell: Conviction has really caught my attention.

Splinter Cell: Conviction

Splinter Cell: Conviction is the latest installment in the Splinter Cell franchise. That being said, it is still a stealth game and yes you are still playing as Sam Fisher with his trusty night vision goggles. The singleplayer campaign looks decent with dynamic interrogation scenes and a couple of new features like “Mark and Execute”. However, what I am really looking forward to is the cooperative multiplayer.

I am a huge fan of cooperative gameplay. This is why I play games like Left 4 Dead, Resident Evil 5, and Modern Warfare 2’s Spec Ops mode. So knowing that I can plan a sneak attack on enemy AI with a buddy, then I am most likely buying the game.

Splinter Cell: Conviction

There are two types of cooperative multiplayer modes. The first is cooperative campaign. This campaign is different from the singleplayer one. It is actually a prologue of the singleplayer campaign and you can buddy up with a friend and play through it. This campaign alone will already take up around 6 hours to complete one play-through. There will be some special cooperative attacks which can only be done here and not the singleplayer.

The second mode is called Deniable Ops. This mode is just clearing areas after areas of enemies, so it is good for people who do not want to deal with the story stuff in the previous mode. The gameplay will most probably be the same because players still have to apply cooperative stealth tactics.

These two cooperative modes have already increased the replay value by a lot for me. However, Ubisoft decided to further increase it. As you play through the missions, you will be earning points which can be spent on upgrades or accessories or equipments. For those of you who have been played Resident Evil 5 you should know very well the desire to own every guns and equipments that the game has to offer.

Splinter Cell: Conviction seem like a game with a very high replay value. If Ubisoft continues to do such a good job with it, then I will definitely be getting a copy. The game will be released on February 20 – 26, 2010 depending on where you live, on the Xbox 360 and PC.
