Email Scams

poor BluesnowxD
^ Is poor me who can’t afford lunches or the Play Station 3 and LBP Dx

Today for the first time since I started interneting I received my first scam-ish phishing e-mail.

We are pleased to notify you that your email address
won the sum of £850,000 GBP from our monthly UK National
Online Promotion held on 6Th November 2008, and released
9Th November 2008. You have therefore been approved
to claim a total sum of £850,000 (Eight Hundred And Fifty
Thousand Pounds ).

And I thought: OMG! I WON MONIES!!!!

Yeah right, I’m not even that gullible. Naturally I didn’t contact any of the phone numbers or e-mail addresses it listed and give away my information, but I did find something interested about it. The e-mail came from a University in Georgia, and the senders name was apparently 15 year tenure teacher at the University.   I contacted the University in question because I’m sure they don’t want their teachers being used in the name of evil… I ended my e-mail stating “If by any chance this isn’t a scam could you please get back to me =D?” (They probably think I’m an idiotxD)

Wouldn’t it be nice if people on the internet really did give out hundreds of thousands of dollars for no apparent reason! I’m sure there are thousands of good hearted Billionaire Philanthropists around the world just looking for poor cute college students like me to donate to. Has anyone else gotten scam emails?

I’m getting ~7 scam e-mails telling me that I won something every day. But can you really think somebody will just donate without any reason? I’ve never heared about that.
