Ponyo Film Opens at America

The perks of living in an Asia Country is that we get to watch Asia movies faster than those in the States XD. Ponyo Film has finally hit the shores of North America on Thursday, one minute after midnight at various theaters. The movie should start showing at other theaters on Friday.

From ANN:

As of Thursday, the movie has a 94% “Fresh” rating on the Rotten Tomatoes review aggregator website and a score of 91 out of 100 on the similar Metacritic website.

The plot centers on a goldfish named Ponyo who desperately wants to be a human. In pursuing her goal, she befriends a five-year-old human boy, Sousoke

The movie might not have received good ratings from what I saw around the net, even back then when it premiered in Singapore, I read reviews that gave the movie a low rating -_-. Despite that, I went to watch the movie, and found it decent, though I would have love it if the movie lasted longer. The ending was too sudden ><. Also, I think I had a tear in my eye while watching the movie =3..

Having said so much, I am a fan of Miyazaki’s works. This movie is a must-watch if you love his movies! GOGO! =D.

I saw this on the newspaper this morning. North Americans have different tastes than us so it may not be all to surprising, seeing as “family films” are big hits over here.

I’m planning to go see the film tomorrow. I’m a bit disappointed by the U.S. mainstream media movie reviews I’ve seen so far… not so much because they’re negative, but the one in my local newspaper made me wonder if the reviewer even bothered to watch the film.

@ GNdynames: Yeah, the movie didn’t receive “stars” from reviewers here too. When I went to watch this film I was surrounded by kids. LOL.

@ bluesnow: LOL. Is the film dubbed I wonder?

@ MorpheusDreamweaver: Hope to hear your thoughts on it! =D. I love the movie!

^ Of course it will be~
Americans generally hate subtitled movies… People complained with “Passion of the Christ” wasn’t in english =____=
I have to say that the English commercial is MUCH more epic than the Japanese one LOL xD

Its like they’re two completely different movies LOL xD

^ nah~ Movie theatre is far from where I live~
and too expensive to go to theatres~
and I can’t think of anyone that would want to see it with me LOL xD
I’m not going to a movie where it will be all little kids all by myself~ I’d look weird hahaha.

It got 4 stars here. Rather surprising. I don’t think it’s playing in theaters around me though.
