Studio Ghibli brought you many wonderful films, like Spirited Away, Ponyo on the Cliff by the Sea, etc! The official website has been updated with details of the next film, titled Karigurashi no Arrietty.

Studio Ghibli’s Next Film Announced

Studio co-founder Hayao Miyazaki has been planning the Karigurashi no Arrietty (The Borrower Arrietty) film since July of 2008, but as previously revealed by producer Toshio Suzuki, Miyazaki is not directing the next film. 36-year-old animator Hiromasa Yonebayashi is making his directorial debut with this project. The film will open in the summer of 2010.

It has been noted that Yonebayashi will be making his debut as the youngest director ever of a Ghibli film. Cool. I can’t wait for the movie to be out in Singapore next year. Hopefully it’s nice :). I am a bit disappointed that Miyazaki will not be directing this film. Love his works. Regardless, I’m sure Yonebayashi will do his best for his debut film!
