This episode is very important to the series (Since there’s only 2 episodes left)… But even after watching it twice I’m still a bit confused… and alot of it left a bad taste in my mouth. Lots of character development between Ranka and Brera, alot about their past and Ranka’s “special power”, Alto deals with the fact he’s a brainless jerk, and the final battle between Mankind and the vajra begin.

The episode starts off with Ranka having a flashback of her childhood. Who I assume is her mother and miss evil 4 eyes manager are having an “adult discussion.” It has something to do with them sacrificing Ranka to the Vajra more or less. The mother also seems to be sick, more than likely with the same disease Sheryl has. Ranka wakes up right before she is able to see her brother’s face. Whe she wakes up she has arrived at the Vajra home planet… which looks alot like earth if you ask me.

Back on earth… despite their colonies being on the brink of destruction, Alto is enjoying a nice home made dinner with Sheryl. Sheryl seems very giddy compared to her normal self… laughing and drinking and making Alto carry her to bed like a little spoiled princess or something. We find out though its probably some strange after effect of the drugs she’s taking to fight her disease.

This picture scares me…

Her childhood flashbacks she’s homeless on the street watching another family having a warm happy dinner. It reminded me alot of children’s story The Little Match Girl… which if that has any bearing on the real macross story is not a good sign for Sheryl at allXD

Ranka sings for them… and tries to tell them they aren’t there to fight… But the Vajra attack them head on anyways. Ranka starts to regain her memories fully now. She was on her home colony singing with her mother and brother and the Vajra attacked. Her brother pushed her into an escape pod, but everything else blew up. Brera must have been saved and transformed into an android.

Ranka finally remembers that Brera is her brother… but its too late. Even Ai kun has turned against them, and Ranka is flown away screaming for her “Onii saaaaaan.” Before Brera can go after her Ms. Evil -eyes shows up and turns his Robotic brain off somehow…

At this point it turns to the Macross government and Military, and we learn about Ranka’s powers. They explain to Alto that like Sheryl she was contaminated with the Vajra disease… but since it was while she was still in her mother’s womb she accepted the presence of the Vajra in her body. They explain that the Vajra have no brains, but they don’t need any, because each and every Vajra are connected by nerves and operate as one being. I’m not entirely sure what ranka’s place in this is though.

Lol Censorship XD

Alto still in shock about this information is confronted by his family. His… Cousin? Mr. Brock Wannabe confronts Alto about his poor decision making abilities. He calls him an actor at heart, and that rather than make his decision like normal people, he just follows the flow and plays the perfect part in the story. This is more or less what was said in the last episode as well; that Alto justs keeps going where ever the story pulls him.

We haven’t seen Alto dressed up like this in a whileXD

All Alto does is Sky gazeXD

Alto goes to reminisce about the past and try to decide what he wants to do. After talking to Klan he decides that if Ranka is their new enemy (part of the Vajra) he will go and kill her himself.

Impressions:

Four words… ALTO IS AN IDIOT!!!

His answer to all the accusation about his decision making is to go and kill Ranka!? It more or less his fault she left in the first place. He first neglected her, and then didn’t trust her and refused to listen to her please that the Vajra could be on their side. He’s just going with the flow of the story again… if he was a real hero of the story he would think of a way to save Ranka… not to kill her. Not only that but he’s now lied to Sheryl… again, and is leaving her to die alone Dx
