Man Given 30 Months Jail for Being a DS Pirate

Uploading games on the net does not pay!

Man Given 30 Months Jail for Being a DS Pirate
Objection!

The Kyoto District Court found a 38-year-old man guilty of breaking the Copyright Law on Monday for distributing pirated software for the Nintendo DS console on the Internet.

Yoshiaki Asagiri was sentenced to 30 months’ in prison, 2 million yen in fines and 7.13 million yen in additional damages.

It’s also known that late last year, Asagiri was arrested for creating a website that made over 1,000 DS games available for download.

Hm, catching one might instill fear in the other uploaders, but I guess as long as the internet still lives, piracy will remain forever -_-. What are your thoughts on this? Why do people download stuff when they can buy(pointing to any media on the net - shows, games, music, etc)? XD

Wow… well i can understand the reason for pirating games for some people…. they’re getting more and more expensive. I know (at least with japanese music) here in the states, almost the only way to get it, without selling your first-born, is to get it from pirating, otherwise you’re pretty much out of luck in ever finding it anywhere. I don’t get the DS game thing though, there are plenty out there and DS games aren’t the most pricey in the world so, it seems a little strange.

I guess i’m just one of those people who appreciates the actual thing when it comes to games instead of some knock-off. The only thing i ever (don’t) download on the net would (not) be music and even then, if i had access to it i would go out and buy the albums and such myself instead of (not) downloading it.

So… there’s my two cents on the matter lol

Zen~ I think your usages of Phoenix Wright for this post is a little confusing xP
He is the defending attorney that NEVER looses… if he was present in this case the gentleman would have gotten off scotch free and Mario would have been jailed for murder… among other charges.

@ kurando: I’m sue you’re able to apply for a card at the very least to purchase some of the albums to actually support the singers. It’s their hard work, piracy really kills

@ GNdynames: =/ nice one. Did he download like A LOT?

    @ M: OBJECTION!!

@ Seinime: piracy last forever eh? =/
